Global Markets Product Control is a division of Global Banking and Markets Finance responsible for the production and independent validation of Global Markets' profit and loss and balance sheet. The Valuations and Analytics teams in Product Control are global team responsible for all aspects of the calculation of Fair Value for traded instruments in Markets and Securities Services (MSS), Markets Treasury (MKTY) and more widely across HSBC. Valuations and Analytics teams are part of Global Product Control and split into 4 main areas of Quantitative Analytics including Models, Fair Value Methodology and Production, and Reporting Governance & Analysis. The team supports Product Control, Market Risk Management, Front Office and undertakes work within all derivative asset classes with focus on those asset classes that make use of quantitative models. The Reporting team is responsible for reporting returns made by Product Control, this includes daily P&L management reporting, quarterly reporting and relevant disclosures reporting

What you’ll do
    • Ensure that the governance and controls of Fair Value are adhered to through Review and Oversight of all Fair Value Adjustments (FVA), Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Prudent Valuation Adjustment (PVA).
    • Local management and training, close interaction and engagement with Valuations team across locations.
    • Key contact point for the Trading team and other key stakeholders (including other Front Office, Traded Risk, Operations, IT and other Finance teams).
    • Lead and Participate in Valuations methodology, including global alignment and enhancements of processes and methodologies and keep abreast of industry information around this important asset class.
    • Drive the implementation of FVAs, IPV and PVA changes, engage the business on all matters regarding valuations and be a key contact for internal and external audit.
    • Drive engagement with other asset class valuation teams to increase consistency, quality and efficiency of related controls and processes.
    • Promote continuous improvement for all activities including increasing efficiency and controls through procedures/systems change process and leadership within PC transformation for your area
    • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the areas under management; specifically, Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, the Group Compliance policy.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Graduate degree, with experience of at least 4 years in Product Control, Risk or Valuations.
    • Demonstrable experience of Product Control and knowledge of products, accounting, valuations, controls, systems, models and markets (at least one asset class, more than one is an advantage).
    • Good understanding and appreciation of Regulatory requirements and guidelines for Valuation.
    • Experience of developing methodology and shaping policy for IPV / FVAs is a distinct advantage.
    • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders (at all levels of seniority) and leading projects to delivery.
    • Experience of managing a team, especially across multiple locations, is an advantage.
    • Strong IT skills preferred, including experience with Python, MS Excel.
    • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
    • Additional qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA / FRM) is an advantage.
