Role Purpose

This role will oversee credit portfolio management, management information (MI) reporting, climate risk integration for Wholesale Credit Risk Management (WCRM) and the role holder will serve as the senior model oversight representative for WCRM. The Head of Credit Portfolio Management and Risk reporting role is responsible for enhancing and embedding the HSBC credit risk management frameworks (Single Name, Industry and Country), monitoring, analysing and reporting on the wholesale credit risk portfolio, and ensuring alignment with HSBC’s risk appetite, regulatory requirements and strategic objectives. 
The individual will play a key role in identifying emerging risks, portfolio trends and concentrations ensuring senior management has the necessary insights to support informed decision-making.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with risk and business teams to develop portfolio-level risk management strategies and risk mitigation frameworks.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality risk reports, including portfolio reviews and risk appetite monitoring. Streamline the production of WCRM MI reports eliminating duplicative reports and ensuring thematic risk reports are available at group, country, regional level to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Enhance and embed the wholesale credit risk frameworks (Country, Industry, SNC) and oversee the WCRM Risk Appetite Statement setting processes.
  • Recommend risk appetite for global commercial lending and counterparty exposure, and ensure wholesale businesses operate within approved appetite, including concentration limits and caps.
  • Monitor credit risk exposures, trends and portfolio concentrations to ensure alignment with HSBC’s risk appetite.
  • Identify early warning signals, risk mitigation trends and sectoral vulnerabilities within the wholesale credit portfolio.
  • Critical review and challenge of  data integrity and consistency in risk reporting across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Sponsor the development of dashboards and analytical tools to enhance visibility into credit risk trends.
  • Coordinate global and regional climate risk efforts for WCRM through the Wholesale Climate Risk forum and oversee/direct related modelling, policies and reporting efforts
  • Model oversight as a key WCRM representative at the Model Oversight Forum and the LIBRA governance committees
  • Provide Leadership to the teams, manage regional and global stakeholders
Requisitos

Experience

Functional Knowledge Experience: 

  • Extensive knowledge of credit risk frameworks, exposure monitoring and risk appetite governance.
  • 15+ years of experience in credit risk, wholesale credit risk management, portfolio analytics or risk reporting within a global banking institution.

External Environment & Regulatory Landscape: 

  • Understanding of climate related financial risks and their impact on the credit portfolios, lending decisions and capital requirements.
  • Experience in regulatory engagement, particularly with the PRA, ECB, HKMA and other global financial regulators.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:

  • To have held a leadership position, ideally within a global financial services organization.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Be able to establish credibility and trust with internal business and risk stakeholders in a short timeframe.
  • Experience of building, developing and leading a sizeable team.
  • Experience of managing within a complex matrix environment.
  • Experience working across different countries and cultures.
