HSBC Global Investment Research (GIR) is a “client servicing and revenue generating” global business unit under the Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) structure, positioned as one of the key business lines of CIB. GIR is an independent research house with a strong focus on Emerging Markets (EMs). We have analysts covering 1,700+ companies, 60+ economies, 45+ sovereigns and 50+ currencies globally. In addition to partnering with the CIB clients, Global Research also collaborates with the rest of the Group businesses.

GIR is looking for a Head of Latin America (LatAm) Macro Strategy. The role involves integrating strategy coverage and ideas across different asset classes; rates, credit, equity, multi-asset, and emerging markets to bring them together under one umbrella for the LatAM region. The role will involve producing research on markets views/trade ideas and themes by creating a consistent and coherent cross-asset message and in coordination with GIR Economics Research that can be presented to institutional and corporate clients alongside internal stakeholders.
As our Head of Latin Americas Macro Strategy you will:
- Manage the LatAM Macro Strategy team with strategists spanning across all asset classes whilst working closely with the Economics team and coordinating with the Equity team at the strategy level
- Produce and develop market views, trade ideas, and themes for global institutional and corporate clients across rates, credit, equity, multi-asset, and emerging markets
- Generate a consistent message, create opportunities to share resources, improve cross-product integration, maximise Institutional and Corporate client opportunity
- Maintain and build the HSBC brand through regular research publications, client marketing, conferences, and policymaker interactions
- Work closely with Research Marketing, sales, sales trading, trading (market makers), to ensure dissemination of information and coordinated flow of information to clients
- Contribute to vote collection to get the team and ensure GIR maintains its rankings in external surveys
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $241,600.00 and $362,300.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- In depth understand of macroeconomics, strategy, and cross-asset relationships
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Strong leadership, team working, and collaboration skills
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree
- Master’s degree in economics, and/or Finance is a big plus
- Extensive work experience as a publishing analyst in the finance industry covering multi-asset discipline
