We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Markets & Securities Services, ASEAN.
ASEAN Opportunity
The ASEAN region has been growing in prominence within Asia – it accounts for 13% of Asian GDP and 6% of Global GDP. It is one of China's largest trade partner and a very large recipient of FDI.
Within ASEAN, Singapore is increasingly becoming a base for regional treasury management for multinational clients and for investment and related activity by fund managers, especially in macro products. It is also an important wealth centres in Asia.
Singapore & ASEAN represents a high growth potential region and we have enhanced our product, platform and coverage accordingly.
Role Summary
This role entails:
- managing and growing our MSS business in Singapore
- oversight of our MSS businesses in the other ASEAN countries viz. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam where we have well established onshore sales, trading & securities services capabilities
- coordinating sales activities for clients that have pan-ASEAN requirements or decision-making mandates.
The role will be based in Singapore with a functional reporting into the Head of MSS A&ME and an entity one into CEO, HSBC Singapore.
Principal Responsibilities
- Management and growth of our sales, trading and securities services businesses in line with the global MSS and CIB strategy and key initiatives.
- Strengthening partnership with important product partners and client groups in CIB and with IPWB.
- Providing direction and ensuring alignment with support functions to ensure consistent understanding and implementation of the MSS Strategy.
- Maintaining and further enhancing the highest level of risk, control and governance
- Optimization of financial resources.
- Building and maintaining relationships with regulators and key clients.
- Focusing on building operational resilience.
- Ensuring compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards.
Role Requirements
- A rich background in Markets and Securities Services
- At least a few years managing a region or a large country; or having regional product or sales management experience
- Demonstrable track record of risk management and of working in a dynamic environment.
- Vision and leadership, motivating large diverse teams working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to lead senior client and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborative management style
- Holistic and independent decision-making
- Digital and technology orientation
- Effective communication skills
The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
