The Opportunity:

  • In an increasingly competitive and digitally driven financial landscape, this role will be critical in shaping the future of our customer engagement and operational efficiency. This role is at the forefront of our strategic imperative to leverage Artificial Intelligence, with a particular emphasis on Generative AI, to deliver unparalleled hyper-personalization in customer experiences and unlock significant cost efficiencies across our operations. You will be responsible for translating complex business challenges into innovative AI-powered product solutions, directly influencing how our customers interact with HSBC and how our internal teams operate. This is a highly visible role that requires a blend of deep technical understanding, strong product management acumen, and a keen eye for business value within a global financial institution.

What you’ll do:

Strategic AI Product Leadership:

  • Define, own, and execute a multi-year AI product vision and roadmap specifically for HSBC Wealth & Personal Banking, aligning it with global business objectives for hyper-personalization and operational cost reduction.
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact AI-native and AI-augmented opportunities, including those leveraging Generative AI, across the entire customer lifecycle (acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention) and internal operational workflows (e.g., servicing, compliance, risk management).
  • Conduct thorough market research, competitive analysis, and customer needs assessments to identify emerging AI trends and translate them into actionable product strategies.
  • Develop compelling business cases for AI product initiatives, including detailed financial projections, return on investment (ROI) analysis, and risk assessments.

Generative AI Innovation & Application:

  • Lead the exploration, prototyping, and productization of Generative AI capabilities to revolutionize customer interactions, such as:
  • Creating highly personalized financial advice, content, and product recommendations.
  • Enhancing natural language interactions for chatbots and virtual assistants, enabling more intuitive and human-like conversations.
  • Automating and personalizing communication touchpoints (e.g., email, app notifications).
  • Streamlining document processing, summarization, and data extraction for client onboarding and servicing.
  • Drive the application of Generative AI for operational efficiency, including: Automating report generation and data synthesis for internal stakeholders, Improving internal knowledge management and agent assist tools for contact centers, Accelerating code generation and testing for development teams, Enhancing fraud detection and risk assessment through advanced pattern recognition.

Product Development & Execution:

  • Lead cross-functional teams (including data scientists, AI/ML engineers, UX designers, legal, compliance, and business stakeholders) through the entire AI product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and iteration.
  • Define detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for AI features and products.
  • Implement agile product development methodologies, ensuring rapid prototyping, testing, and deployment of AI solutions.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of AI products against key metrics (e.g., user engagement, conversion rates, cost savings, accuracy, fairness).

Data & Ethical AI Governance:

  • Collaborate with data governance, legal, and compliance teams to ensure all AI products adhere to HSBC's stringent ethical AI principles, responsible AI frameworks, and regulatory requirements (e.g., data privacy, bias mitigation, transparency, explainability).
  • Oversee the establishment of robust data pipelines and data quality standards essential for training and deploying high-performing AI models.
  • Champion the secure and responsible use of customer data in AI applications.

Stakeholder Management & Evangelism:

  • Act as a key interface between business units, technology teams, and executive leadership, effectively communicating the value and progress of AI product initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across WPB and other HSBC functions to identify opportunities and drive adoption of AI products.
  • Evangelize the potential of AI, particularly Generative AI, within the organization, fostering a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making.

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Develops and maintain relationships and work well with all levels of management. Leverages existing expertise across IWPB Data and Analytics community and promotes culture of “Build Once, Deploy Many”
  • Actively seeks input from others- encourages and listens to different viewpoints and perspectives. Uses networks inside and outside the business to provide support in delivering goals
  • Builds a culture committed to the delivery of outstanding customer service and healthy, open, transparent, honest team environment.

Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Minimum 12 years of hands-on analytics experience solving complex business problems using data
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis experience or equivalent. In-depth knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is a must
  • Deep knowledge and commensurate experience with AI/ML concepts, techniques and tools including Gen AI as well as strong understanding of AI Capability developments across the industry
  • Innovative – the ability to approach things differently or do different things to deliver goals.
  • Proven leadership track record in dynamic/changing banking environments and complex matrix structure
  • Good understanding of the competitor landscape and industry best practices
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Exceptionally strong organizational, problem-solving & inter-personal skills. Ability to communicate clearly across all levels
  • An Entrepreneurial spirit/drive to execute quickly with the simultaneous ability to navigate through organizational complexities"                   
  • Strong communication skills for navigating through business requirements, ability to involve others in discussions of alternatives, asking for their suggestions and steering them to a mutually acceptable position
