What you will do:

This role pertains to actively lead and manage the Settlements, Confirmations, Reconciliations & Collateral function across multiple asset classes including GFX, Markets Treasury, Fixed Income and Equities.  In addition, this includes building strong global relationships and collaborating with teams across regions, functions, and business lines to deliver client service excellence and outcomes that meet the needs of the MSS business.  Robust risk governance, identifying and responding to emerging risks, instigating change, and driving strategic resolution is also a key requirement. The role will enable MSS Operations to operate against the objectives of relationship management with stakeholders, interface into strategic transformation program & project management of the migration. The challenging risk environment and increase in the regulations requires effective support and investment to enrich management information to adhere assurance towards achieving a robust control environment and meeting regulatory requirements. The role requires active management of operational risk through streamlined processes and providing efficient services to the business and clients in addition to adherence with group standards, policies, and best practice guidelines to ensure minimal internal and external events.

Key responsibility of the role requires leadership, management, and oversight to support the sale of the HSBC South Africa entity in line with HSBC group strategy due to be completed by Q4 2025. This includes interface into strategic transformation program and key project management accountabilities of the transition.

In this role you will:

· Improving organizational efficiency by reviewing the operating model and implementing change. 
· Ensuring a client-focused environment exists within their remit and taking accountability of all relevant client interactions. 
· Encouraging ‘cost-consciousness’ across the team and acting if it is not demonstrated. 
· Leveraging network to influence change, achieve globally aligned processes, systems and communication mechanisms that fully incorporate cultural differences, system variances, diverse teams etc. 
· Seeking to identify regulatory and operational risks and taking decisive action in managing resolution and preventing reoccurrence. 
· Regularly reviews effectiveness and efficiency of MSS Ops relevant to their remit and encourages formal proposals for improvement. 
· People management, leadership and full accountability for team’s performance against targets.
· Driving investigation of trends, dependencies, root causes to provide team direction. Selecting optimal solutions and directly planning initiatives.
