Financial Crime is a Global Function that brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at HSBC and is dedicated to implementing the most effective global standards to combat financial crime. The function has been set up in a way that enables us to build on our achievements in managing financial crime risk effectively across the bank and continue to strengthen financial crime detection, anti-money laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption compliance.
We are currently seeking a high-calibre professional to join our team as Manager, FC Risk Assessment.

 

The Opportunity:  

ASP FC Risk Assessment supports the Bank’s lines of business and Compliance function with proactive data analytics and thematic research on financial crime subjects to inform both the first and second lines of defence within Asia Pacific region. FC Risk Assessment includes a team of researchers and data scientists who combine qualitative and quantitative methodologies to assess emerging risks and typologies. 

 

What you’ll do:     

The role holder will provide data analytics and data science support for FC Risk Assessment. Tasks will include running programming scripts to extract raw data from Bank data platforms, analysing large quantities of data to extract useful information and insights, and building visualisation dashboards to present data effectively. The role holder will also be expected to support the training and upskilling of other colleagues, and provide oversight and quality assurance for analytical outputs.  Key responsibilities and requirements include:

  • Write SQL/HQL/Python code to perform data analytics for financial crime risk insights, including (but not limited to) data analysis, data matching, data cleansing, and data quality check.
  • Build QlikSense dashboards for data visualisation.
  • Work with large, complex datasets, and demonstrate ability to merge large datasets to generate useful insights.
  • Apply optimal combinations of applied mathematics, statistics, visualisation and data engineering to the area of combatting financial crime. 
  • Build on necessary skills (including those described above) through targeted training and personal development.
  • Support the training and upskilling of colleagues, particularly more junior colleagues.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance for analytical outputs.
Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:       

  • University degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Statistics or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years’ of experience in data analytics or programming.
  • Strong analytical mind and willing to enrich technical knowledge in the field of data analytics.
  • Ability to execute tasks and act on instructions in a time-efficient and accurate manner.
  • Experience in building dashboards via tools such as Qlik, Tableau or Power BI.
  • Previous experience in project management is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and/or background in financial crime themes, such as sanctions evasion, money laundering, terrorism financing, fraud, bribery and
  • corruption or financial intelligence would be an asset.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience working within the AliCloud / Hadoop ecosystem in addition to strong technical skills in analytical languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS.
  • Strong team player with a proactive and self-motivated attitude and ability to think and act independently.
