Direct Custody and Clearing Corporate Actions is an asset servicing function mainly providing services to institutional clients and retail clients in a domestic market. As a direct custodian, team is responsible in efficient and timely broadcast of corporate events to clients, processing of instructions, computing entitlements and processing corporate event payment. Common corporate event processed includes but not limited to cash dividend, bonus shares, rights issues, proxy meeting, take over, merger, interest, redemption and conversion to name a few. The Opportunity:

  • Opportunity to learn and understand the types of corporate events and its life cycle in various market.

  • Enrolment into Corporate Actions academy which offers comprehensive product training and knowledge testing.

  • Job holder is responsible for day to day management of corporate events in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.

What you’ll do:

  • Set an example in ‘Leading to be Customer driven’ by implementing effective control mechanisms and monitoring ‘Service Quality’ of the section to ensure high Customer Service Standards.

  • Problem situations are proactively identified and resolved to give maximum customer satisfaction and escalated where necessary. Appropriate measures are taken to improve quality and prevent recurrence deadlines.

  • Review Contingency requirements on a periodic basis and invoke relevant business recovery measures as necessary. Carry out effective Operational Risk Assessment by monitoring and implementing risk mitigating plans.

  • Plan for effective cross training taking into account the Global Contingency requirements, Staff Banding progression and Operational requirements and striking a balance among them.

  • To have a tight control on Operational losses, potential frauds through strong internal audit and staff feedback mechanism.

  • Process productivity and quality targets are set, monitored and achieved to ensure optimum resource utilisation and achievement of business objectives and customer SLA’s.

  • To ensure prompt escalation (as per escalation matrix) to the Assistant Manager / Manager for all matters which may present a potential financial loss or client service concern.

  • Accountable for maintaining satisfactory audit/regulatory/risk ratings and be consistent with Group and Company policies and standards requirements at all time (inclusive of involvement during the reviews as scheduled by the business). 

  • To demonstrate critical and analytical skills that include the ability to analyse information and generating ideas/solution for decision making based on available references.

  • Conduct periodic reviews on existing procedures with a focus on delivering efficiency and identification of best practices.

  • Provide coaching and support to team members on operational activities to ensure all aspects of team activities are satisfactorily covered.

  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes and supports the Management’s decision.

  • Action oriented: Drives a supportive team environment driven by people centric values.

  • Change Management: Effectively drive and manage change to achieve business goals. (e.g.: process improvements/ changes in procedures).

  • Effective communication with peers in terms of best practice sharing to ensure that optimum use of resource is made across the sections and that a robust cross training plan is in place to multi skill operation teams.

  • Understand MI requirements and demonstrate the ability to produce, analyse and interpret MI to the Global Reporting team and/or the team members.

Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • A post-graduate diploma or degree in any discipline. Higher qualification not a bar provided aspirations commensurate with the position.

  • Strong leadership skills evidenced by achievement of objectives together with a track record of development of individuals, strong organisational and planning skills along with ability to handle capacity and MI reporting.

  • Possess relevant Securities background and knowledge - at least 3 years of Securities experience with exposure to Corporate Actions.

  • Ability to speak and understand English fluently, writes business emails and reports, as well as has good conversational skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly, transfers knowledge appropriately, understand and interpret numeric data. Evidence of good analytical, statistical and data mining skills to study trends and make projections. Production management skills and ability to initiate process improvements is essential.

  • Exposure in leading, handling and executing strategic and tactical projects.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Initiate cost control measures by achieving resource efficiency and managing overheads.          

  • Able to prioritise workloads to meet tight deadlines and think correctly under pressure.

  • For internal application, staff must have completed at least 18 months in their current role.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Possess broad understanding of Corporate Action processes and market various specifications.

  • Experience in both Direct Custody and Global Custody will be added advantage.

  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to network and connect with all levels.

  • Exposure to different types of Corporate Events in various markets.

  • GHSS, AWD, SME and GMG systems experience and knowledge is an added advantage.
