  • We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Non-Financial Risk, Securities Services, to support risk management in our key markets in the region.

The Opportunity:

  • A senior Non-financial Risk role overseeing the risk and control framework for Securities Services to include:
  • Work alongside the global business teams (front to back) and in partnership with the respective Risk Stewards.  Acting as a trusted advisor to our stakeholders and supporting the management of the business risk profile;
  • Work in conjunction with the Risk Initiatives, Regulations and Client Assets Oversight and the Risk Framework and Assurance teams under the NFR (Non-Financial Risk) structure to provide value-add and proactive risk management execution;
  • Act as a key lead leveraging our risk expertise and business understanding to support the business operating within risk appetite. Providing assessment and guidance on both business threats and opportunities to internal stakeholders and to our clients;
  • Participation in and responsible for challenge and oversight of the relevant control Governance meetings established for the businesses end to end.
  • Assist with co-ordination and preparation of Internal, External Audit and Compliance Reviews and ensure the closure of any Audit Identified Issues;
  • Ensuring appropriate assessment of the risk environment and definition of the control environment across the Businesses, executing all activities in line with the Group Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF). Working alongside the NFR Framework and Assurance and Risk Initiatives functions and also working closely with key business and other stakeholder in the following key areas:
  • Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) – Drive Regional and Global consistency in the Risk and Control Assessments;
  • Risk Advisory – Provision of detailed and specific risk management or control related advice;
  • Incident investigation/Issue Management – To assess the thematic root causes arising from incidents and issues.  Providing technical/product specific support to the in country Framework and Assurance teams during the investigation of incidents and definition of remedial actions to effectively mitigate the risks arising from an issue;
  • Change Risk Assessment – Performance of either ongoing or specific risk assessment for change projects globally (including new client onboarding, IT system implementation, material operational process change, new product or new business). Work with our NFR Change Risk Assessment colleagues;
  • Thematic Reviews – Delivery of thematic based process risk and control reviews to provide global, regional or country specific assessment of risk;
  • Assurance & Monitoring – Supporting the Framework and Assurance team in the design and ongoing maintenance/development of a suitable risk based assurance and monitoring programme (including substantive control testing (ICMP), KRI and Thematic Reviews);

What you’ll do:

  • Manage a diverse and complex risk, control and regulatory environment, that is continually developing/changing in scope and focus.
  • Keep up to date regarding external developments in Regulations, market trends and competitor activity.
  • Work across a global business, meeting Group standards of risk management, while understanding the commercial realities of MSS’ institutional client base.
  • Primary functional reporting relationship to the Regional Head of Securities Services NFR.
  • Maintain close working relationship with the Securities Services Businesses front to back
  • Maintain close working relationships with relevant stakeholders and peers across MSS, and Group Functions.
  • Participate and contribute within SSv Business governance forums.
  • Assisting in driving management, coordination and execution of risk management activities across SSv.
  • Maintaining relationships with 2nd/ 3rd line of defence risk functions.
  • Maintain regular interaction with appropriate SSv and MSS internal colleagues
  • Oversee the effective monitoring of risks, services and processes against agreed group standards and external requirements.
  • Ensure the risk governance framework is clear, fit for purpose and executed as defined, and that escalation paths are adequate and effective.
Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • In-depth knowledge of Securities Services activities, products and processes.
  • Strong risk / control background and understanding
  • Educated to undergraduate or post-graduate degree level in Accountancy, Finance or related field.
  • Strong leadership and management ability, including motivating employees in the wider organisation.
  • Broad knowledge of the external environment (regulatory, political, competitors etc.).
  • High level of drive and motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language.
  • Use judgement and experience to determine how to handle complex requests and varying timescales; make judgements quickly and consistently.
  • Relationship management and collaboration skills: ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence with peers across the organisation.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Strong understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives, especially in the risk environment.
  • Interpersonal skills: proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group.
  • Practical experience of major business tranformation activities.
  • Proven abilities in managing virtual teams and working across cultures in a global business context.
