We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Risk Manager.
As Risk Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate and optimal risk strategy is delivered at M&S Bank, with additional focus on Credit Risk.
You will provide oversight and insight of M&S Bank acquisition, portfolio and collections performance for existing and any new credit products launched.
Working closely with first- and second-line teams across HSBC UK and M&S Bank to ensure that risk strategies deployed are appropriate and meet the needs of M&S Bank. Supporting the M&S Bank Chief Risk Officer in ensuring good risk discipline is in place across the enterprise-wide risk framework.
This will involve supporting effective governance for M&S Bank, which may include reviewing various reports and liaising with key stakeholders across M&S Bank and HSBC UK.
In this role, you will:
• Identify opportunities to contribute to business objectives and take a lead role in driving initiatives where appropriate.
• Understand and ensure mitigation of known and emerging risks
• Responsible for oversight of the end-to-end credit cycle, including: acquisition credit risk policy and strategy changes, portfolio account management strategy performance, new credit products / facilities / price / re-pricing, new credit product risk framework, risk appetite and expected profitability, marketing campaign target criteria, new scorecards / Basel models, collections and recoveries policy, strategy changes and performance
• Represent the voice of M&S Bank brand within HSBC UK RISK and represent the voice of HSBC UK RISK within M&S Bank
• Take accountability for embedding risk culture within M&S Bank
• Ensure M&S Bank key values are maintained in new acquisition strategies
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
• Strong understanding of risk management principles.
• Good working knowledge of Credit Risk policy, strategy, operations and related procedures throughout the credit risk cycle
• Appreciation of portfolio drivers and how to influence them.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to positively influence stakeholders.
• Awareness of enterprise-wide risk framework.
• Proven experience of working in a relevant environment, promoting and leading best practice in risk and compliance management.
• Strong analytical/strategic thinking skills which can be applied in a practical and realistic manner.
The base location for this role is Chester, Sheffield or Birmingham – Hybrid Working.
