Global Analytics Center (GAC):

  • Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk, Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.
  • There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Information Management job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions.

Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function (CCS DDS):

  • Data and Decision Systems under credit control services is an integrated team which is mainly responsible for the delivery and support of the risk management tools, systems and data across HSBC.  The team also serves as a Decisioning center of expertise for multiple Account Originations/Management risk systems along with the custodians of Global collections data.
  • Retail Data and Decision Systems group facilitates the deployment of account originations and management strategies through the FIM approved decisioning tools. The team would need to interface heavily between the Information technology team and the end users. Additionally, the team would also act as the originator of collections data for the entire group.
  • The core functions include strategy deployment, data validations, process improvement, system documentation, providing consulting, guidance and delivering comprehensive risk management platforms to support risk management intelligence, analytics, MI generation, and ETL along with data management. 
  • The position is to support the Retail Data and Decision Systems Account Management and origination’s function within the Data and Decision Systems team.

Job Family Classification and Description -

  • Information Management job family is designed to cater towards all the data needs of business. It covers sourcing of data and building structured data lakes, designing data marts generating Business Insights and hosting data in Cloud. Key responsibilities also include but not limited to: creation of a robust data foundation and continuous update of these datasets, to support Analysis and reporting, identify opportunities for data monetization, leverage BI and Visualization tools to deliver key business insights and develop self-serve BI solutions to empower the business to make informed decisions. The team members embed agile delivery methodologies to continuously keep refining the data models using new and emerging techniques. This team also acts as a bridge between IT and the business stakeholders

The job accountabilities of this role are:

  • The job holder is required to ensure the provision of complete, true and accurate analysis and report to functional management and senior executives under minimum supervision of his / her line manager, in order to facilitate effective decision making.
  • The nature of work will require the role holder to take quick decisions in situations where complete information/data might not exist and he/she would need to apply business knowledge & intuition to make best case recommendations
  • The role holder shall also be expected to guide and Analysts from a functional perspective and help them gain business understanding.
  • In this role, the job holder will be under partial supervision and will undergo on the job training, however it is vital that the person in this role is able to learn new tasks very quickly.  The role holder will be expected to execute on tasks/projects, once provided initial directional guidance.
  • The role holder shall be expected to solve complex technical/business problems on his/her own without involving his/her line manager. The role holder will be expected to be responsible for thorough quality check (QC) of their own deliverables, and follow the departmental QC procedures as laid down by their line managers. They will also be expected to create departmental QC guidelines & ensure their adherence by his/her functional reports
  • The role holder shall also be expected to be the primary SPOC for their assigned projects, for the business partner. In this role, they are supposed to set the correct expectations with respect to deliverables, TAT, follow ups etc. They are expected to actively manage the projects and bring to light potential road blocks
  • Be able to execute/deliver against defined tasks.  Develop new solutions/framework for the business problems. 
  • To be able to work independently on medium complexity tasks that would involve frequent changes to the process.
  • Develop business domain knowledge and good working knowledge of tools [SAS, SQL, VBA, Unix, Qlik, R, Python and any other BI tools & Data technologies.]
  • Interfaces with business/functions to translate business requirements into executable instructions/technical.
  • Maintain the level of communication/interaction across the team and direct manager including onshore business partners
  • Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework.
  • Participate in the technical/functional sessions and ensures project results delivered on a timely manner.
  • Works smoothly within the team and supports other co-workers. 
  • Can provide introductory training to junior teammates.
  • Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excel and perform to the highest standards.
  • Robust error-free execution.
  • Diagnoses underlying problems related to integrity of information deliverables. Consults with functional manager, business unit personnel, systems analysts and other end-users on issues impacting the project timelines and deliverables

Job Description (Sub-function):

  • Data engineer is a global role to support the data pipeline across regions.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines on GCP
  • Build complex attributes, scorecards on GCP
  • Impact analysis of data/attribute changes and de-deduplication
  • Work with the business and technology teams to lead the creation and development of data management standards
Requisitos

Skills/Experience Required:

Eligibility Criteria -

  • Over 4+ relevant experience on cloud computing with GCP experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from reputed university with specialization in engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/Retail banking-operations is desired
  • Experience on working on Data/Information Management projects of varying complexities.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience on google cloud (GCP) implementing data pipelines,
  • Strong experience in Airflow, Big Query, DBT, Big Table, Dataflow, Python, Spark,CICD Pipeline, Jenkins
  • Strong experience in efficient cloud computing
  • Experience with Agile/iterative process in delivering use cases. Exposure to JIRA/Confluence for project management activity
  • Enthusiasm for proactively seeking, exploring, and developing use cases for new data and/or tools/wider industry trends
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix multi-national operating structure.
  • Strong experience in leading a team to deliver use cases or projects.
  • Strong team mentoring experience

Functional requirements

  • Strong understanding of Credit Risk Strategies: acquisitions, portfolio management collections and its data components
  • Experience in data transformation and data visualization and analytics etc.
  • Experience in translating business requirement documents to detailed data and implementation requirements
  • Understanding on the originations and collections ecosystems to work with IT to identify any required changes in calling systems
  • Exposure to Analytical modelling approaches and data science
  • Proven passion for data analysis and data quality
  • Experience creating data quality rules for MI, strategies: accuracy, validity, completeness, etc.
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of HSBC Group structures, processes and objectives is desirable
  • Strong understanding of banking / HSBC and of how change drives benefits for HSBC, its customers and other stakeholders

Soft Skills requirements

  • Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success.
  • Maintain the level of communication/interaction across the team and direct manager including onshore business partners.
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.
