The job responsibilities include data analysis, design, validation and calibration of credit, market and operational risk models. In addition GAC also supports credit risk strategy development and implementation, monitoring and validation. This forms the basis for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making to satisfy business needs and requirements along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

  • Credit Risk Management Strategy is a key functional area within Retail Risk Analytics. The function supports development and monitoring of Origination and Account Management strategies, within HSBC group globally, across all retail products (secured and unsecured).

  • This role requires the incumbent to develop/track credit risk strategies/frameworks and guide a small team of risk     analysts supporting Group Strategy team. This position reports into the Head of Group Strategy team in GAC

 

 The Opportunity:

  • This role is for MIDAS team which is a Central Repository/inventory for producing/tracking underlying Risk metrics and reports to ensure Concise, Consistent, timely and meaningful data and Reports availability for Sr. Leadership and Regulators for 36 markets across 6 regions, reconciled from various sources, rated according to the sustainability and consistency of the underlying sources, and traced. Given team is currently supporting initiatives across 36 global markets/Products; its critical to have a backfill of a senior lead role to guide/navigate team members and drive stakeholders’ delight for business sustainability. 

  • The role which falls under Business Consulting job family, should provide credit risk strategy oversight and support on an ongoing basis to Group/Region/country teams

  • This would span across acquisition strategy (Approve/Decline, Line assignment, Risk Based Pricing etc), account management (CLI, CLD, Authorization etc) strategy and acquisition profitability modelling (P&L simulation)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading conceptualisation and execution of new strategies/ framework

  • Estimation/tracking of financial benefits and associated loss rates for benchmarking

  • Leading presentation and approval process of new strategies/frameworks with senior stakeholders

  • Tracking actuals against projections and explaining what drives the variance

  • Develop strong business relationships with regional and country teams and provide an independent view of effectiveness of various strategies

  • The incumbent would be expected to effectively explain the trends, adding meaningful insights backed by relevant business knowledge

  • Guiding and overseeing work of few junior Risk analysts

  • Responsible for end-to-end project management, ensuring productivity and output are within agreed SLAs

What you’ll do:

  • Support credit risk strategy development & management for secured & unsecured portfolios across various Global markets 

  • Conduct periodic strategy monitoring and mitigation exercise to ensure adherence to risk appetite.

  • Establish and set up early warning systems for portfolio trends resulting into proactive risk management.

  • Ensure proper control and governance of all credit risk strategy development & management processes. Support process reviews and audits from time to time. Work closely with auditors and reviewers and ensure highest standards are maintained for every analytical solution

  • Engage with business stakeholders with respect to project prioritization and be accountable for delivery of high quality analytical solutions.

  • Ensure stakeholder satisfaction on all solution deliveries and support innovative analytical thinking & solutions that results in improved business performance

  • Support development of consulting culture within team that seeks for opportunities to expand & deepen relationships with stakeholders

  • Identify opportunities to translate key analytical solutions for redeployment across other regions / countries

  • Drive operational efficiency, cost management and process improvement initiatives

  • Be accountable for hiring, learning & development and talent management for the c20+ strong team

  • Ensure adherence to business policies and process compliance

  • MIDAS is a strategic database /Central Repository/inventory for producing/tracking underlying Risk metrics and reports to ensure Concise, Consistent, timely and meaningful data and Reports availability for Sr. Leadership and Regulators for 36 markets across 6 regions, reconciled from various sources, rated according to the sustainability and consistency of the underlying sources, and traced. 
    MIDAS helps in Rationalize and redesign the existing reports to have consistent and meaningful information by aligning Country and Group reporting. 

  • Standardize the metrics definitions to ensure consistency in information across Regions/Countries 

  • Directly extract data from RDM – a regional golden data sources to ensure timely availability. 

  • Set-up data quality control framework to ensure accuracy of the information. 

  • And eventually caters as a self-serving dashboard for end user.

Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics/ statistics/ economics/Engineering or equivalent; Masters degree is desirable. Phd is a plus

  • Prior experience in managing risk activities in retail lending is essential

  • Relevant experience in analytics specifically in the fields like Credit Risk Strategy Development, vintage profitability modeling, Portfolio Insights/MI etc.

  • Prior experience with leading development of acquisition risk strategy (Approve/Decline, Line assignment etc.), account management strategy (CLI, CLD, Authorization etc.) or strategy analysis and portfolio management would be preferred. Exposure to TRIAD and SMG3 would be a plus.

  • Strong understanding of consumer lending products like Credit Cards, Mortgages, Personal Loans, Overdraft, Auto Loans and Line of credit

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse in technical and non-technical/business aspects is essential

  • Ability to deal with senior stakeholders like country or regional head of credit risk and/or analytics (head of analytics) is required

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exposure to multiple markets across geographies will be advantageous for the candidature

  • Prior project management & people management experience would be required

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Understanding of new age advanced analytics (Machine Learning) tools and solutions will be preferred.

  • Knowledge of advanced project management especially ‘Agile’ will be preferred.
