We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer.

Role Purpose:

Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for overseeing the company's IT infrastructure and ensuring operational efficiency in technology services. This role involves collaboration with senior management to align technology with business goals. Key duties include managing data centers, server, storage, and network infrastructure, while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role also drives innovation in IT infrastructure, manages vendor relationships, and maintains a technology roadmap that supports the company's growth and digital transformation.

Principal Accountabilities:

Impact on the Business/Function

  • Ensuring stability, scalability, and efficiency of IT enterprise and telecoms infrastructure.
  • Maintain high-performance infrastructure. Reducing downtime and optimizing cost.
  • Managing business stakeholders to define product roadmaps and ensure other departments within HSBC are informed about the available technologies for both telecoms and server infrastructure.

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Align infrastructure strategies with business objectives, meeting both current and future needs of customers and stakeholders.
  • seamlessly delivery IT infrastructure services, such as network, storage, and data center operations.
  • Collaborate with business and clients to identify improvement points for IT for both network and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Oversee risk management related to infrastructure, ensuring all operations comply with regulatory requirement, security standards, and internal policies to mitigate risks for organization and its customers. 
  • Maintain strong relationship with external vendors and service providers, ensuring that third-party services meet agreed performance standards and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to ensure alignment with organization’s and customers’ needs.
  • Resolution of major incidents and infrastructure-related problems are managed effectively to minimize impact on customers and stakeholders.

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Responsible for leading end-to-end delivery and continuous improvement of a specific IT service.
  • Ensures the service aligns with organizational goals, promotes stakeholder satisfaction, and supports continuous operational excellence.
  • Foster strong working relationships between teams, including development, operations, security, and other departments, ensuring collaboration and a shared sense of responsibility for the service.

Operational Effectiveness & Control 

  • Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure for both network and servers including hardware, software, and network components.
  • Develop and implement network designs and architectures that support organizational needs. Ensure scalability, reliability, and security in network infrastructure.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize network performance to ensure high availability and efficient data flow. Implement best practices for network tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with network and server infrastructure vendors and service providers.
  • Ensure that servers are optimized for performance and security.
  • Manage and apply patches and updates to server operating system to ensure security and stability.
  • Develop storage solutions that meet organizational needs, including scalability, redundancy, and performance. Design storage systems to support data growth and high availability.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network, server and storage configurations, policies, and procedures. Provide regular reports on system performance, issues, and improvements to senior management.
  • Respond and resolve incidents related to network, servers, and storage systems.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, able to forge trusted partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders across the Bank.  
  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task and collaborate to successfully deliver services to agreed levels in a diverse and constantly changing environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with ability to think creatively to drive innovative, practical, and cost-effective solutions to complex issues.
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including data centers, networks, servers, and storage systems infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions (public/private), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Proficient in managing enterprise-level network infrastructures, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, SD-WAN, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and disaster recovery planning.
  • Understanding of ITIL/ITSM practices for service management (incident, problem, change, and configuration management).
  • Expertise in monitoring and maintaining infrastructure performance, uptime, and capacity planning.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to infrastructure and operations.
  • Knowledge of governance frameworks for managing IT infrastructure in regulated environments.
  • Familiar in project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder management and change management.
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships, including negotiating SLAs, monitoring performance, and overseeing third-party service providers.
  • Experience with procurement processes for infrastructure components and services.
  • Significant experience in managing 24/7 IT operations, including monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Implementation of ITIL/ITSM practices to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Experience managing disaster recovery and business continuity planning for critical infrastructure.
