Global Legal plays an important role in protecting HSBC’s reputation, helping to safeguard the organisation by providing robust and comprehensive advice on legal issues and risks. Our lawyers advise senior management offering a range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all the countries and territories in which HSBC operates.

We are currently seeking a lawyer to join our Digital Legal Services team in the UK. We are the technology, commercial, cyber, data and intellectual property legal experts supporting the HSBC Group - particularly the GCIO and GCOO teams - to deliver and evolve its strategic priorities, including in technology investment and resilience, innovation, bank-wide operations and the HSBC brands and trademarks.

Working in our flexible, agile model, this role presents amazing opportunities to lead global projects and negotiations as well as to build new skills in developing areas of law and business, such as AI, data, cyber and digital assets.  As part of the global Digital Legal Services team, the role will work with colleagues globally and collaborate with other lawyers, including litigation, competition, employment and banking lawyers.  If you would like to develop a broad portfolio of expertise ‘fit for the future’, this role is for you!

In this role, you will:

•    Draft and negotiate a range of technology and commercial agreements (e.g. global outsourcing; critical technology (software, hardware, services, SAAS, platforms, data, AI,); new or novel consortium, collaboration and partnership agreements to grow the business. 
•    Support technology and operations with the development of their strategies and key risk management, including of strategic projects and issues and incident management.
•    Advise on emerging technology risks and a fast-changing regulatory environment, including in relation to resilience, AI, cyber, sanctions and export and third party risk.
•    Advise on contracting approaches and strategic vendor lifecycle management  including vendor disputes and major incidents.
•    Develop your knowledge and skills in financial regulation, data, IP, cyber, digital channels, digital assets and more.
•    Continuous improve the way we work to keep us ‘fit for the future’, working in teams on process improvements, knowledge and reporting tools, commercial management, experimenting with technology (including AI), partnering with our law firms and ALSPs and driving relationships. 
 

Requisitos

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    Qualified Lawyer, with extensive experience in technology, commercial, outsourcing and intellectual property.  [Related experience in payments, data privacy, technology litigation and/or other transactional contracting experience will be considered.]
•    Strong contractual drafting skills.
•    Experience of working within financial services or in house with a keen interest in the industry and curiosity to learn more about the multijurisdictional and regulatory environment is a pre-requisite.
•    Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing stakeholders by negotiating effectively and winning over audiences with a compelling and persuasive skillset. 
•    Strong lateral thinking/problem solving ability with forward-leaning proactive approach.
•    A collaborative teammate, but also a self-starter with the ability to work independently with an entrepreneurial drive.

The base location for this role is Leeds.
