Business Financial Crime Risk (BFCR) is responsible for the oversight and mitigation of Financial Crime Risk (FCR) within the First Line of Defence for UK Commercial Banking (UK CMB), by ensuring the FCR framework and overall control environment is effective and proportionate across the customer journey.
We are looking for a diligent and experienced person to join this team in the role of Senior Manager, Client Selection and Exit Manager, Risk Mitigation and Assurance.
You will report to the Head of BFCR and will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of both the Client Selection, Exit Management (CSEM) and the Risk Mitigation and Assurance (RMA) teams respectively.
CSEM’s key accountability includes provision of guidance and governance around bank appetite within UK CMB, ensuring any client retention decisions are reviewed at the appropriate forum so that decisions and exits are managed in a timely and consistent manner.
RMA’s key responsibility is undertaking Thematic Review on possible financial crime and reputational risk typologies, and for driving RM/DRT capability, knowledge and competence.
In this role you will:
• Lead a team of CSEM and RMA Managers to set and oversee the effective delivery of key strategic priorities and objectives across the respective teams
• Ensure the CSEM process remains effective so that the bank is safeguarded against potential reputational, operational, regulatory, legal or financial crime risk
• Have oversight of case preparation for decisioning at the appropriate forums (e.g. Reputational Risk Client Selection Committee) and ensuring overall adherence to the associated governance frameworks
• Hold responsibility for planning and execution of complex Thematic and Ad-Hoc Reviews to ensure a high quality in line with stated procedures and guidance
• Have oversight of the outcomes of testing to drive actions necessary to improve frontline performance for FCR identification and mitigation
• Use MI to identify financial crime risk typologies (e.g. through the use of CSEM exit data) which may drive the need for RMA thematic reviews
• Continuously reassess and ensure operational and financial crime risks are minimized, internal controls are adhered to and regulatory and compliance requirements are met
• Act as a senior point of contact and SME for key stakeholders within UK CMB, collaborating effectively with colleagues and functions across both the first and second lines of defence
• Deliver a consistently high-quality and professional customer experience at all times
To be successful in this role you should have:
• Leadership experience with the ability to inspire, motivate and performance manage colleagues to allow them wo work at optimum efficiency
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of Financial Crime Risk, Risk Management and UK Commercial Banking
• Extensive financial services experience, financial crime risk and a commercial awareness
• Practical understanding of bank and business governance, processes, risk controls and frameworks
• Familiarity of with the variety of financial services products
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to share and present complex information in a clear, concise and accurate way
• Stakeholder management experience with a track record of collaborating with senior members of frontline teams
• Experience of undertaking thematic reviews would be advantageous
• Experience of managing client relationships
