Global Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance to management and the risk and audit committees as to whether the framework of risk management, control, and governance processes, as designed and represented by management, is adequate and functioning. 

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Professional Practices Specialist.

Principal Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Senior Professional Practices Specialist, Global Internal Audit Methodology role is a key position within the Global Professional Practices (GPP) methodology team, reporting directly to the Global Head of Audit Methodology. The purpose of the role is to design, implement and uphold GIA’s methodology, aligned to the GIA and GIA methodology strategies, industry standards and leading practices.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to shape our future audit approach. Partnering with GIA Senior Leaders, audit colleagues and on occasions representatives of other lines of defence, the role holder is responsible for the effective development of policies, tools and training to further enhance the reputation of the function both internally and externally. They will help to drive GIA’s purpose, ambition and strategy, which includes setting the industry standard in how we operate as well as improving the efficiency and effectiveness of assurance activities.

In this role you will

Work collaboratively with the Global Head of Audit Methodology to:

  • Periodically update and enhance the GIA methodology strategy and Quality Assurance Improvement Plan to drive continuous improvement in GIA. Make recommendations to changes of audit methodology, prepare proposals and present them to peers and GIA senior management
  • Maintain and update self-assessments for the Global Internal Audit Standards, Internal Audit Code of Practice and other relevant audit and regulatory requirements as required
  • Develop and maintain the global audit policy in line with the GIA methodology strategy, industry standards and leading practices
  • Act as the GPP representative for GIA change initiatives and working groups, taking responsibility for the end-to-end change journey including but not limited to: developing and challenging proposals, coordinating with sponsors to build consensus, translating changes into audit policy, analysing training needs and presenting training updates
  • Identify ongoing training needs and develop and present training on audit processes as well as auditor capability and skills development
  • Work collaboratively within GPP to prepare updates for inclusion in committee reporting. Interact and communicate at senior levels within Global Internal Audit, and with other stakeholders and peers, both internally and externally to share and maintain a knowledge of internal audit best practices
  • Respond to methodology mailbox and other requests to guide and coach audit staff on application of audit policy; prepare and respond to regulatory and third-party requests for information
  • Proactively assist with, coordinate and manage internal and external reviews of GIA; maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
Requisitos

To be successful you will need: 

Essential Experience

  • Banking Expertise: Depth and or / breadth of experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector with a broad range of relevant experience including but not limited to wealth and premier banking, corporate and institutional banking and supporting infrastructure
  • Technical Breadth & Depth: Extensive expertise in audit methodologies, risk assessment and control frameworks with a strong understanding of industry regulations. Proven ability to address internal and external findings to deadlines to support business objectives
