Wholesale Technology provides technology solutions to support HSBC’s four global businesses: Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets, Global Private Banking, and Retail Banking and Wealth Management. Wholesale Technology is part of Digital Business Services (previously called HOST). Wholesale Technology Digital faces off to Commercial Banking.
Wholesale Technology Digital is a major Service Line reporting into Wholesale Technology, but servicing the Commercial Bank. Digital (sometimes called Wholesale Technology IT) is the electronic front door for HSBC’s commercial customers, and the Digital team is responsible for developing, building, and improving on the digital banking platforms that our customers use. Large commercial and global banking customers use HSBCnet and Connect to transact, while small to medium-sized commercial customers use Digital Banking platforms (DBB) and emerging solutions such as Kinetic and Quantum.
HSBC Connect is a fully automated host-to-host solution allowing customers to seamlessly integrate their own systems into HSBCnet, where they can use a single point of entry to have access to a number of HSBC services globally. It is primarily used for payments and statements integration but also supports other functions such as Supply Chain and Trade. HSBC Connect was originally built in 2001 to serve as a gateway between a small number of domestic customers and HSBC processes, including Nationwide Building Societ.

HSBC Commercial Banking serves millions of businesses ranging from small, to large corporates, providing commercial customers with a full range of banking services including Global Trade and Receivables Finance, RMB solutions, multi-currency business accounts, payments and cash management, and wealth management and insurance, as well as a comprehensive range of financing solutions. With dedicated Relationship Managers and Product Specialists providing local support and advice in over 60 countries and territories, HSBC helps connect customers to opportunities.
What you’ll do:
- Understand Group and CMB strategy, help define technical strategy and execute which to fulfill business needs and aspirations on growth, management and control.
- Plan for people and project management, provide coaching and guiding directly or indirectly to teams having developers, testers, analyst and architects inside by giving clear direction, feedbacks and timely suggestions to ensure a high quality standard of deliverables according to HSBC standards and best practices.
- Address existing technical debt and drive for technical evolution aka Digital Transformation for the teams by working closely with various parties including business, SMEs, Solution Architects globally
- Establish and maintain trustworthy relationships with business and relevant stakeholders. Manage expectation of key stakeholders and work jointly to maximize interest of business and customers
- Manage supply and demand pipeline and give guidance, direction for making decision to achieve goals, deliver products that align with business core interest.
- Minimal 10+ years’ experience of software developments with both Water-Fall and Agile methodologies.
- Have experience leading and managing agile, cross function delivery teams encompassing 30+ staff (direct and indirect repartees).
- Knowledge on DevOps, Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD), Agile control Framework.
- Are passionate about technology and look for opportunities to learn & bring new ideas to the team.
- Have experience with Java and web based technologies (JavaScript framework, HTML5, CSS) and Database(Oracle).
- Have experience with Production Support and incident management.
- Demonstrable ability to mentor, develop talent and motivate staff to reach their optimum performance levels and career development.

- Excellent knowledge of their technical environment and will have significant responsibility in setting the way forward in the types of technology they look after. Forward thinking, making the right decisions based on strategy.
