Our Global Service Centers are an integral part of Global Operations. Employees based there manage day-to-day customer transactions and processes for the global businesses. This may include transactions for our retail bank such as processing loans, credit cards, insurance and mortgage applications, opening new accounts, and managing customer enquiries through contact centers and digital platforms. Employees in the Global Service Centers also run and manage operations for commercial bank customers. This includes processing credit applications, facilitating payments and managing the import and export transactions that enable customers to protect and grow their businesses through international trade.

The Opportunity:

To acquire broad understanding of processes assigned, being able to monitor work and allocate work on a daily basis to Processing Executives. Ability to handle escalations and process related query resolutions. Plan capacity daily and intra - day, based on projections and volume analysis and allocate/reallocate resources accordingly. Understand MI requirements enough to be able to produce, analyze and interpret MI. Ensure compliance with audit requirements by performing audit checks as required by process, in line with business process requirements. Provide leadership to team assigned as applicable, consistent with Group and Company policies and standards. Leading a cohesive team, working in a supportive team environment driven by people centric values as applicable.  Leading to the motivation and effective development of individuals to meet business targets as applicable. As part of the role, the  job holder would be expected to capture and/or approve the issuance of Documentary Credits on behalf of HSBC. This is a critical function which would require the job holder to possess knowledge of or be trained on the latest version of the UCP (Uniform Customs and Practises for Documentary Credits) as issued by the ICC. In addition, the job holder would be required to use his knowledge of the trade finance business, shipping incoterms, various regulations regarding AML, Sanctions, Trade FIM, ICC rules, Group compliance policies etc. along with a good understanding of the UCP to ascertain the “workability” of the documentary credit prior to approving the issuance of the same on behalf of HSBC.

What You'll do:

  • The major challenge is to manage the operations of the department or teams in a dynamic and challenging economic and regulatory environment. As and when applicable, the jobholder is expected to manage teams which require strong training, coaching and oversight in order to meet the performance standards
  • The role also demands a good understanding of the business and industry standards. This would include a good understanding of the UCP along with an overall understanding of the trade finance business and norms. This would be required to review complex DC Issuance and Amendments which would need to be reviewed from multiple angles before the job holder issues the same on behalf of HSBC.
  • Staff retention is a significant challenge due to the increasingly competitive nature of the business
  • It is essential that the BS management team demonstrates HSBC values persistently. The team is expected to lead and motivate skilled aspirants in a high-pressure productivity based environment where deadlines are critical.
  • Job satisfaction through rotation is a key requirement to aid retention. Therefore, effective training and resource management plays a vital role.
  • Retaining reliability and security of the business is a key when migrating work from Group companies. Effective business knowledge unified with operational risk management is essential in developing trust within the business.
  • There could be volume pressures occasionally, when a number of transactions are received at a time on a particular day and HSBC would be committed to execute on the transactions within the committed SLAs.
  • The regulations surrounding the checking of transactions for Sanctions and other “bad-guy lists” is constantly evolving. The job holder would need to be constantly aware of the role requirements from a compliance perspective and ensure that they are being met without exception.
Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in this role?

  • Leadership and people management skills, with ability to build rapport with and relate to and effectively develop a wide range of people(E)
  • Ability to learn quickly, transfer knowledge appropriately, understand and interpret numeric data. (E)
  • Graduate from a reputed Institute or University in any discipline
  • Flexible to shifts
  • Strong understanding of ICC rules such as UCP/ ISBP / ISP as appropriate to the sub-domain that the candidate is expected to manage.
  • Must have minimum 5 years of experience in Trade ops
  • Should be aware of AML and sanctions screening procedures in Trade

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Computer literate and proficient with MS applications e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Lotus Notes
  • Understand and interpret numeric data –exposure to forecasting, budgeting and analysis will be an added advantage
  • Quick learner on multiple new things
  • Strong understanding of ICC rules such as UCP/ ISBP / ISP as appropriate to the sub-domain that the candidate is expected to manage
