Reporting to the Tribe Lead of AMH Wealth Analytics, this key role will be responsible for developing and delivering the analytics roadmap for Wealth Products.  The incumbent will have direct responsibility for developing analytical frameworks that leverage data and advanced analytical techniques to identify incremental revenue opportunities.  The incumbent will work with a team of data scientists across Hong Kong, India and China to manage analytical processes of customer life-cycle management.

The job holder is accountable for:

  • Developing predictive models and segmentation models for the purpose of improving customer relevancy and experience.
  • Leveraging existing data and identifying new data sources to drive proposition development.
  • Monitor and assess portfolio performance and actively identify portfolio opportunities or risks.
  • Establishing a robust tracking discipline to compare and share best practices across countries. 
  • Support CRM in developing key lifecycle contact journeys.

 

The Opportunity:  

Impact on Business

  • Accountable for ensuring the delivery of analytical frameworks to support the strategic and tactical activity of HSBC across propositions and products.
  • Collaborate with other Analytics specialisms to achieve FRP targets for both Customer Revenue and Customer Numbers.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and risks within Wealth Products, Private Banking and Premier & Personal Banking portfolios; recommend analytical solutions to remediate risks or exploit identified opportunities.
  • Develops effective working relationships with key stakeholders to maintain expert knowledge of stakeholder requirements, competitor activities and market trends to influence future direction of Proposition Analytics.
  • Responsible for ensuring the customer need and experience is at the forefront of any development.
  • Ensure all analytical activities yield measurable benefits via tracking.

Customers / Stakeholders

  • The role’s responsibilities extend across AMH WPB and IWPB.  Stakeholder management is multi-faceted, across geographies, propositions, products, channels, employees and customers.
  • The role holder will need to develop collaborative relationships with global and country teams, to build consensus and influence outcomes.
  • The role holder will need to obtain buy-in from senior management and stakeholders for specific key initiatives; achieve commitments to support change agendas; and develop requirements, budgets, schedules, scope, risk mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Key stakeholders include: Product; Propositions; Customer Channel; Marketing; Digital; DA&CRM.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • The role holder will need to liaise across geographies and Propositions, Products, Channels, employees, customers and the Risk, Finance and Marketing functions.
  • Directly manage or guide/influence teams of analytical specialists highly trained in the conceptualization, development and implementation of result-oriented, advanced analytic solutions.
  • For cross-functional project teams, guide solution design and development, articulate tangible deliverables, monitor progress and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Acts as an SME for the Wealth business and works the matrix effectively to influence change in the organization.
  • Works in a facilitative manner in the matrix to build capability in progressing objectives, but does not lose sight of the key outcomes.
  • Acts in a manner that transparently promotes the organization’s values and delivers in an aligned manner.
  • Cultivates an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Institutionalizes standard best practices to remove unnecessary complexity and increase stability.
  • Establishes governance structure(s) and standards across Group, Region, Priority Countries and International Countries.
  • Supports the establishment of IWPB functional policies and standards.
  • Supports and manages operational risk by ensuring adherence to Group Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, and Information Security standards.
  • Supports the development of global operational policy and procedures for Analytics. Establishes processes to track adherence to these policies.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of Target Operating Models and FIMs where required.
  • Supports the implementation of Global Standards, Financial Crime Compliance and Risk considerations within the context of the IWPB strategy.

Major Challenges

  • Prioritization and commitment from individual market to secure local resources and sufficient operational capacity to implement globally-consistent leads management process
  • Conscious of variance in individual market condition and customer portfolio, strike a balance between solution standardization and customization based on local markets’ prevailing situation.
  • Manage multi-location resources to deliver towards demanding regional- / Group- consistent agenda and targets.
  • Recruiting and developing the technically sophisticated skill sets required in the Global Analytic Center.
  • Must be pragmatic concerning the trade-off in analytical rigor versus business benefit – Pareto’s 80/20 rule is highly relevant with the limited available resources and problem domains in which we operate.
  • Must be able to inform and influence business decisions based on the expectations for success.
  • Must be able to adapt to dynamics in business and quickly come up with actionable plans catering to quick change.

 

What you’ll do:     

Role Context

  • Possess a niche combination of seasoned analytic experience, commercialization of analytics, in-depth knowledge and extensive exposure to wealth products and proposition.
  • Lead a dedicated team as well as project-manage other analytic resources at country and region level.
  • Create an environment where analytics capability is increased to identify and drive increased revenue generation from customer data to support AMH WPB products and propositions.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Role Dimensions

  • The role holder is directly accountable for supporting the analytics strategy of Wealth Products and Global Private Banking businesses in AMH.
  • The role holder is responsible for driving key Product and Propositions revenue through Analytics.
Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:       

  • 10+ years’ experience in the Financial Services / Banking sector.
  • Regional exposure and previous experience with multi geography team management of Analytics & CRM.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant business discipline e.g. Economics, Marketing, Math, Statistics.
  • Experience of strategy development, organizational leadership, across specific financial product categories and customer segments.
  • Relevant experience in the development of analytical models in a large financial institution or comparable environment, with onshore and offshore management of resources.
  • Proven experience leading analytics, CRM and business intelligence organizations in the Financial Services industry.
  • Experience of working across senior levels of the organization to drive and influence change.
  • Solid understanding of Wealth Propositions and Wealth Products for Mass, Mass Affluent, HNW and UHNW segments.
  • Experience of creating and leading a large geographically diverse team and ability to work on multiple, complex programs and initiatives simultaneously.

What additional skills will be good to have?     

  • Prior knowledge in retail banking and private banking and experience in customer life cycle management.
  • Fluency in spoken Cantonese.
