We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Global Head of Trust Advisory

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Primary responsibility is to provide support to TFS teams in all jurisdictions concerning matters of fiduciary responsibility, risk and technical trust; product ownership, and regulatory, tax and company law issues, thereby ensuring the business operates and is governed and controlled effectively as a global business and within risk appetite  
  • Lead a team of c.10 professionals in the industry’s premier provider of trust, wealth and succession planning, and philanthropy solutions with some 1,700 client relationships; Assets under Administration (AUA) of USD251 billion, Revenues of c.USD130m with additional contributory revenues to HSBC of c.USD260m  
  • The specialist team under the job holder’s leadership is responsible for key considerations in protecting HSBC and its clients: namely, policies and oversight regarding the discharging of fiduciary responsibilities of the trustee, tax and regulatory matters that drive changes in product, process, decision-making of the trustee, product governance, the definition of policies and pricing regarding TFS services 
  • The role holder is responsible for the day-to-day management of all products, representing Trust & Fiduciary Services in the IWPB GPPC and having active engagement with the WPS Product teams 
  • Close liaison with other Group Functions is imperative to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the role; particularly Compliance, Tax, Legal 
  • Keep abreast of market developments through engagement with Wealth Planning & Advisory, and ensure client propositions are updated across the global platform to meet changing market and legal/regulatory conditions 
  • Act as an effective advisor to others in Trust & Fiduciary Services or the Wealth Planning & Advisory globally for complex structuring for UHNW clients that may require a detailed assessment of appetite and other considerations given the nature of the proposal being considered 
  • Work closely with Company Secretary & Governance and external counsel on matters related to the management of the BVI entities in the Trust & Fiduciary Services structures 
  • Demonstrate strong HSBC values, and uphold and promote the image of the business, including the delivery of fair outcomes for clients 
  • Work with others to design policies and procedures for trust and related activities globally – from a fiduciary perspective – that are in compliance with Group standards, which may extend to the provision of training 
  • Documentation pertaining to the services offered by Trust & Fiduciary Services are managed and updated 
  • Be an effective member of EXCO, OPCO, RMM, Conduct Committees, in addition to other global governance meetings; 
  • Act as a Director or Executive Director, as appropriate, for relevant HSBC Trustee-related entities 
  • Act as a senior spokesperson for trust and related activities, particularly with regards to policy or in industry fora that consider such matters 
Requirements

Qualifications & Requirement

  • Qualified trust professional with senior management experience in private trust business. Experience in private banking business would be a clear advantage  
  • Expert knowledge of fiduciary duties, trust laws, estate & succession planning, and investment management principles as well as common risks and issues affecting trust companies 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute a long-term vision for effective trust governance, oversight and product development 
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape governing trust and fiduciary services and ability to translate information to actionable plan for the Trustee  
  • Outstanding Customer focus with a keen desire to provide internal advice and where necessary work with external advisors on ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients and their families on complex, sensitive matters  
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain intricate concepts clearly and confidently to colleagues, clients and internal stakeholders  
  • A proven leader confident in managing and developing teams and participating and representing the role in senior business forums
