We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Assistant Vice President, Product Owner. 

Principal Responsibilities 

We are currently seeking a Product Owner to join the Life Product Implementation Team, and who can shape and drive the outcomes of the Agile Team they are working with.  You will have decision making authority and accountability with the Agile Team with regard to the delivery of the product.

  • Responsible for the delivery of the end-to-end project life cycle, ensuring proper control of governance, scope, resources, timeline, budget and risks. Actively monitor the project scope and resources to meet the project schedule and budget
  • Ability to multi-tasks and manage multiple projects, such as campaigns, funds and ad-hoc projects
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the business and technical lead to break down complex features into user stories and prioritise the build
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the product development managers, pricing, risks, legal, compliance, marketing and operation units to facilitate the end-to-end processes and solutioning
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, dependencies and key milestones.  Promptly escalate with recommendations for path-to-green
  • Ensure each build meets compliance to relevant requirements
    • Regulatory approvals
    • Governance requirements
    • Operational Risk requirements
    • Non Functional Requirements
    • Business requirements for implementation and adoption in markets

Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders

  • You will be accountable for the value that the team delivers to the business
  • You will be the accountable face-off to represent the team and their delivered outcomes, features and services
  • You will be accountable for preparing and delivering updates and key messages to the key stakeholders
  • You will be accountable for engaging internal and external functions as required by specific delivery needs potentially including:
    • Service Delivery Functions
    • Service Providers
    • Vendors
  •  You will be accountable for ensuring adherence to approved budgets
  • All activities must be conducted in accordance with Group standards, policy and procedures

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Typically, you will work within a team consisting of delivery leads, Engineers, Analysts and other roles as required to deliver the backlog of the Team
  • You will act as an escalation point for delivery blockers, dependencies or other issues impacting the team or a particular story. You will be responsible for determining next steps and mitigating actions where required
  • You will need exceptional decision making, influencing, communication and collaboration skills in order to role model agile delivery practices
Requirements
  • Positive attitude and an excellent team player
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience in managing all stages of the project life cycle
  • Experience in life insurance industry is an added advantage
  • Experience in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies and proven ability to handle hybrid projects
  • Proven ability to multi-tasks and handle multiple projects with minimum guidance
  • Possess a combination of business and technical knowledge
  • Proven ability to build strong relationship with key stakeholders and the “C” level (such as, CPO, CFO, COO, CDO) and having the right influencing and communication skills to drive for effective outcome to meet the challenging timeline
  • Ability to work under challenging environment
  • Ability to use tools such as Confluence and Jira
