We are looking for a high calibre individual to join HSBC Life Insurance Malta Ltd (INMT) as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the performance of the finance function in the Malta Insurance company, including its employees, plans, and policies. In this role you will contribute to long term strategic planning, support and monitor the implementation.
HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Limited is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority to carry on the business of insurance in Malta under the Insurance Business Act, 1998. A range of protection and investment life assurance products are distributed mainly through HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. which is enrolled as a tied insurance intermediary under the Insurance Intermediaries Act 2006.
In this role you will :
• Lead develop and motivate the team/s to attract, retain and develop talent, succession and ensure delivery of business objectives within a high-performance culture.
• Manage and implementation of the Group Finance Strategy at a country level and manage the delivery of professional, effective, responsive, and joined-up finance service to the country at optimal cost. Serve as a business partner to the operating team to drive business initiatives, growth, business strategy and profitability.
• Lead finance function to design, execute and monitor financial operations as well as related risks, meeting the regulatory, tax and business requirements.
• Act as Finance Responsible Person of the legal entity to communicate and manage relationship with local regulators on finance and tax related issues.
• Monitor and manage capital risk for INMT legal entity, as well as managing the related enquiries from group stakeholders.
• Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
• Work effectively with varying levels of people in Finance Function, and a wide range of stakeholders across multiple business areas and functions, providing leadership and direction where required.
You should apply if you have:
• Accountant Qualification or equivalent with proven track record in managing financial control & reporting function.
• Deep understanding of insurance business including IFRS17 and Solvency requirements
• Strategic thinking and excellent decision-making skills with business acumen - able to translate financial data into strategic business recommendation and timely decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills – must be able to communicate effectively both internally with Group executives & Board members and externally with auditors & regulatory bodies.
• Courageous leadership ability - able to lead, inspire, motivate, and develop the team to deliver business performance.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders of different seniority and geographical location.
