The role supports Channel Islands & Isle of Man ("CIIOM") International Wealth and Premier Banking (“IWPB") including Trust and Fiduciary Services (“TFS") Regulatory Compliance, enabling the CIIOM IWPB business to deliver sustainable growth by supporting the embedding of a robust risk management culture in HSBCs business processes to ensure that the business complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers. 

What you’ll do
    • Regulatory Compliance Policy and Regulatory Developments: Coordinating as appropriate the implementation of global standards and strategic policies which ensure IWPB including TFS exposure to current risks and emerging arising risk is managed appropriately. Support the process for policy review and implementation, and work with Regulatory Compliance Risk Stewards and relevant stakeholders to oversee gap analysis and successful implementation.
    • Advisory: liaison with relevant stakeholders and to provide expertise, advise and support on IWPB related matters to articulate Regulatory Compliance risks, ensure IWPB business clear understanding of Regulatory Compliance risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions, services and products.
    • Governance: support the preparation including relevant management information for IWPB governance attended by Head of Regulatory Compliance, IWPB CIIOM and IWPB Regulatory Compliance Risk Map.
    • Support the oversight and development of CIIOMs approach to Conduct Risk, working with Risk Stewards to increase awareness of Conduct Risk and embed the Group approach to Conduct Risk management.
    • Provide support to others in the wider team who also support Regulatory Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, Europe.
    • Support the Group’s RC strategy by identifying, informing and advising Senior Management of any developing issues and trends that may impact or be relevant to the management as appropriate of compliance risk.[WL1]
    • Coordinate with equivalent counterparts in CIIOM, regional and group to ensure a consistent, best practice and ‘joined-up’ approach to the oversight of the businesses.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and clearly articulated justifications.
    • Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to think laterally and solve problems.
    • Understanding or experience working with corporate banking products and services.
    • Working in a major financial institution, within a matrix environment, including reporting internationally.
    • High level of professional and personal integrity.
    • Proficiency in English language (written/spoken/formal.
    • Understanding of the purpose, value, culture and fundamentals of the Compliance function.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities is essential.
