Your career opportunity
The role sits within Product Control (PC) Change delivery function in Krakow, Poland. Reporting entity wise to Regional head of PC Change (EMEA) and functionally to Global head of Core PC Accounting Change, the role holder will own, lead, and drive business analysis within subledger stream of PC change. It is a high-profile project role with senior management focus and the role would provide visible change leadership for senior stakeholders.

What you’ll do
Design, propose, and setup appropriate project governance structure tailored to needs of the initiative whilst also link into other ongoing strategic initiatives within the bank to avoid duplication of efforts,
Prioritise amongst conflicting requirements through suitable engagements with stakeholders,
Proactively identify bottlenecks & challenges to project milestones, add to and resolve items from project RAID logs, and escalate high risk items through steering groups, change forums with an aim to eliminate/minimise project derailment risks,
Coach, guide, and grow pool of business analyst who may report into this role.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
10 years of experience gained within Product Control function within HSBC or its peer group of banks. Good to strong knowledge of corporate markets financial products – cash, derivatives, or structured. Good to strong knowledge of front-to-back technology stack supporting Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet production, accounting, and reporting.
Strong to excellent communication skills – both spoken and written. Thrives and does well in a collaborative environment with ability to work well across geographies. Good time management skills and able to self-prioritise their work with minimal supervision.
Able to anticipate & identify risks inherent in their deliverables & proactively raise it for awareness of their supervisors and project stakeholders. Strong stakeholder management skills & able to network across teams. Takes agency over their self-development with a desire to push delivery standards higher.
Not necessarily required, but good to have, some knowledge of SQL or an inclination to quickly learn minimal aspects of tech elements to comfortably navigate dialogue across stakeholder groups.
Ideal candidate would have hands-on business analysis experience gained within a strategic change function or at the very least contributed towards or supported strategic change deliverables in their capacity as subject matter experts (SMEs). Comfortable working with markets products datasets, gleam insights from it and turn those insights into working group discussion points, requirements, and user stories. Would be control minded and consider & promote both non-functional & non-financial aspects of change. Will have some general awareness of & be inclined to ramp up quickly their knowledge on Agile Project Management methodologies.
Should have good to strong understanding on how economic P&L for a market product is calculated. Should have good understanding & appreciation of market risk factors and attributes driving system produced P&L.
Would have produced, validated, and challenged traders P&L against system produced golden source P&L. Would have awareness of T0 controls operated by markets business as an overlay to T1 controls operated within Product Control functions. Would have some awareness of applicable IFRS’s namely., IAS 32/39, IFRS 7, and IFRS 9 at the very least.  At a minimum – they’d have knowledge of applicable business models (BMs) & accounting linked to those BMs. Would have closed month-end ledger/financial statements for markets products in their prior production role – at a minimum this will include – Front office (FO) to Accounting Rules Engine (ARE) reconciliations, FO to General Ledger (GL) reconciliations, journal postings, cash breaks, nostro-vostro controls, and balance sheet substantiation.
Have awareness of major events in the lifecycle of a product & its associated accounting. A stronger still candidate will be able to draw out T-accounts linked to accounting events and can comfortably navigate conversations with accounting policy & implementation teams.

What we offer
The pay range for this role is 22 000 PLN – 28 000 PLN (monthly, gross).
Additional car allowance in the amount of 4620 PLN (monthly, gross).

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
