Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Technology supports HSBC’s business capabilities in trade and receivables financing, liquidity and cash management, capital financing & investment banking, payments, and credit & lending for corporate and institutional clients covering over 50 key global locations.

Our CIB Technology teams work closely with HSBC’s global CIB businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply, and securely, and our staff to support them efficiently.

We are looking for a highly capable and experienced Tech Lead to guide our AI and Machine Learning initiatives under credit & lending area (CIB Credit & Capital Management – CIB CCM). In this role, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of LLM-based solutions, overseeing prompt engineering efforts, and ensuring robust, scalable AI systems are delivered. You will lead a cross-functional teams, manage project priorities, and act as the main technical point of contact across internal and external stakeholders.


What you’ll do
    • Lead the architecture and development of AI/ML solutions, with a focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering and RAG.
    • Provide direction, oversee, and coordinate the implementation of AI/ML use cases across different team under Credit and Capital Management department. 
    • Active and engaged member of AI Communities / Forums at CIB Tech level. Be responsible for implementing and influence on strategic direction given by CIB AI team. Drive experimentation and innovation in NLP, ML, and AI technologies, ensuring alignment with business goals.
    • Ensure adherence to ethical AI practices, focusing on fairness, transparency, and accountability.
    • Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and data scientists on the team.
    • Collaborate with architects, product managers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
    • Present complex technical solutions and roadmaps clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Create, lead and manage CIB CCM Tech AI Management Meetings. Report directly to CIB CCM Tech Head and being active and engaged member of the CIB CCM Tech leadership team.
    • Act as a senior technical expert for European based application by supporting key architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, ensuring code quality, and aligning technical work with business goals.


What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Demonstrated experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer delivering software projects, preferably within AI/ML domains.
    • Proven ability to lead, oversee, and shape strategic direction for software implementation across an organisation.
    • In-depth understanding of LLM architectures, prompt engineering, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
    • Advanced programming skills in Python, with working knowledge of SQL, GitHub, and CI/CD methodologies.
    • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and technical initiatives, particularly in developing NLP, ML, and AI solutions, with hands-on experience in LLM experimentation.
    • Commitment to AI best practices, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability within the team’s models and systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of synthesising complex information and making data-driven decisions to achieve business objectives.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to business audiences and build long-term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.


What we offer
The pay range for this role is 22 192 PLN -  33 000 PLN (monthly, gross).
Additional car allowance in the amount of 4620 PLN (monthly, gross).

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
