We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Corporate Communications and Community Investments, HACN.

Job Purpose:

•    The Head of Corporate Communications and Community Investments proactively builds and protects the reputation of Hang Seng China. 

•    The role reports directly to the Chief Executive of Hang Seng China and have a dotted line responsible for the Head of Corporate Communications and Community Investments in Hang Seng Bank. 

•    The focus of the role is to strengthen brand image, drive business reputation and market position to attract customers in target segments and promote business growth. The role-holder leads a team in the delivery of integrated corporate communications and community investment strategies for Hang Seng China that align with the bank’s purpose, values and strategic priorities.  He/ she also needs to oversee the department’s risk and control processes and ensure everything is in full compliance with Group requirements. 

•    The role-holder leads the development of community investment programmes that promote good corporate citizenship and support the interests and long-term sustainability of the community. 

•    The role holder effectively anticipates areas of reputational concern and opportunity for the Bank, providing communications advice and solutions to the management team. 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development 
•    Design and implement integrated communications and community investments strategy for Hang Seng China, with particular focus on the Greater Bay Area (GBA), in support of the Bank’s collective commercial objectives. 
•    Work in a highly collaborative manner across Bank to implement strategy and build a strong reputation. 
•    Maintain engagement with the Hang Seng Bank’s Corporate Communications and Community Investments departments to keep them abreast of strategic developments and issues affecting Hang Seng China. 

Integrated Communications 
•    Lead the consistent communication of Hang Seng China. 
•    Advise key senior executives on all communications matters regarding Hang Seng China, in particular GBA. 
•    Maintain knowledge of stakeholder requirements, competitors’ activities and market trends to influence the future communications direction. 
•    Drive innovative storytelling to audience, using appropriate channels and formats. 
•    Generate op-ed and thought leadership positioning pieces for use on platforms and with publications around the network. 
•    Manage the agreed platform strategy for senior business executive engagement with key stakeholders, including development of messaging, speeches, and positioning pieces for senior executives to deliver on key business platforms. 
•    Work in close alignment with other functions to ensure integrated campaign maximisation across all communications channels. 

Community Investments 
•    Lead Hang Seng China’s community investments programmes to enable the Bank to demonstrate good corporate citizenship. 
•    Identify and manage community investments programmes that align with the Bank’s business and purpose and support the needs of the local community, in particular in GBA. 

Internal Communications & Employee Engagement 
•    Design and implement an internal communications strategy that is compelling to drive employee engagement and promote the Bank’s employer brand. 

Issues & Crisis Management 
•    Develop and proactively manage Hang Seng China’s reputation risk mitigation framework, ensuring the Bank is adequately prepared to effectively deal with issues and crises. 
•    Work with colleagues in the Bank to ensure leaders have early sight of emerging issues and ensure there are handling strategies for each issue. 
•    Work with functions across the Bank to co-create and co-develop material that protects the Bank’s reputation. 
•    Assess and devise strategies for building capacity and capabilities for managing reputational issues, ensuring lessons are learned and shared following each issue. 

Media Relations 
•    Oversee and monitor all media relations activities for Hang Seng China. 
•    Build media relationships that help protect, strengthen and enhance the Bank’s reputation. 
•    Apply an acute understanding of the media in mainland China, particularly the GBA. 
•    Ensure key spokespeople are given required training to represent Hang Seng China on the media front. 

Financial Management 
•    Overall responsibility for the financial budget and reporting requirements for the Hang Seng communications and community investments team. 
•    Build the annual budget plans, ensuring transparency and accountability across the team. 

Compliance & Risk 
•    Ensure full and strict adherence to the Bank’s risk management and compliance policy requirements. 
•    Manage and mitigate operational and reputational risks in day to day operations. 

Leadership & Teamwork 
•    Represent the function in designated committees and governance forums. 
•    Actively shaping the function’s working practices, structure and governance. 
•    Foster and develop communications talent and capabilities at Hang Seng China. 
•    Provide strong performance management and coaching, with strong development plans. 
•    Live and lead with Hang Seng’s values and communications behaviours: creating one team, that’s dynamic, collaborative, fun, and focused on impact, moves with pace and purpose, inspires each other, and innovates.

Requirements

•    Extensive experience leading integrated communications strategy within a complex, highly regulated and issues rich environment. 
•    A proven track record of safeguarding and maintaining the reputation of large-scale corporations. 
•    Proven ability to manage complex risks and issues management, including demonstrated ability to execute a communications agenda to successfully drive outcomes. 
•    Bachelor degree or above with minimum of 15 years’ relevant experience in communications/ public relations/ marketing.   
•    Strong analytical, interpersonal and project management skills. Effective leadership and decision-making with experience in influencing key stakeholders. 
•    Strong people management skills, with the ability to drive changes.
•    Ability to work under pressure.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
