Technology teams in the UK work closely with our global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. They also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank. Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps Engineers, IT Architects, Front and Back End Developers, Infrastructure Specialists, Cyber Experts, as well as Project and Programme Managers.

As Head of Cyrptography Research and Regulatory, you will form part of the team responsible for fielding solutions that help defend HSBC against a wide range of threats to the business as well as its customers, clients, partners, and staff.  In this role you will partner teams across HSBC, to implement novel defensive capabilities that are effective and adaptable against a constantly evolving threat landscape.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain awareness of changes to the cryptography landscape, understanding technical threats to safe use of cryptography
  • Collaborate on maintaining effective technical control requirements to ensure compliance with legal, regulator and partner requirements
  • Identify emerging threats and opportunities in the cryptography space and provide guidance to the business and key stakeholders
  • Work with teams globally to ensure the development and implementation of tooling to support best in class cryptography solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and risk management teams to align cryptography requirements with overall business aims and regulatory requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in information security, with a focus on cryptography
  • Proven experience in interpreting regulatory requirements
  • Experience with HSMs, cryptography key management, PKI, and cryptography remediation.
  • Experience with cloud-based cryptography solutions and integration with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

This role is based in Sheffield .
