Job description

General Role Purpose

·       The role provides the Thailand Entity COO with dedicated, forward thinking and strategic and operational management support including but not limited to management of cross-GCOO activities, interacting with and influencing senior executive leadership, regulators and other external bodies on the COO’s behalf, management of the GCOO regulatory and legal responsibilities across the entities, providing operational management and business management activities for GCOO, and execution of strategic projects for the GCOO in the market.

·       The key aspects of this role:  Performance Services – Leading the Performance Services (PS) team that provides business management support to the Entity GCOO and wide range of employee services and benefits. The PS Team will also drive continuous improvement across the market in areas such as Change Execution, Non-Financial Risk, Third Party Risk Management, Governance and Administration matters.

·       The role provides key elements of support for CIB business on strategy, execution, business performance, marketing, commercial aspects.  The role requires a deep understanding of Thailand CIB business in order to ably support CEO and Head of Banking, and GCOO.  Fluency in Thai language is required.

 

Performance Services

·       Provide Business Management / Performance utility services that support Businesses and Group Infrastructure – Financial Management, Governance and Oversight, Service Performance, Process Reengineering, Engagements and People Experience.

·       Ensures the operational strategies and initiatives are designed with strong customer centric focus, enhancing the overall customer experience.

·       Support the GCOO for CIB strategy execution, marketing and commercial support for CIB business, working directly with CEO and Head of Banking where required.

·       Ensure oversight of business continuity, incident management and physical security-related aspects for the franchise. Coordinate with the relevant teams to track and escalate to the appropriate governance forum.

·       Align to Global ESG oversight and delivery priorities, including management of supply chain in line with the Bank’s sustainability commitments.

·       Drive GCOO project execution of global / regional specific programmes in the region, supporting Group COO strategic actions’ execution

Leadership:

·       Strong leadership, stakeholder management, resilience and influencing skills up to executive committee members, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels; imperative to navigate Business and Infrastructure stakeholders to achieve the required outcomes.

·       Cultivate a positive controls culture across the Thailand COO leadership team and across the franchise to continuously increase risk and control awareness and capability.

·       Business support and commercial, marketing and strategy execution for CIB, based on guidance from CEO & Head of Banking, and GCOO.

·       Assess and build the right skills and capabilities to manage business continuity and physical security risk and control landscape.

·       Exceptional interpersonal and management skills with experience in establishing and managing a wide range of projects, across multiple work stream teams and stakeholders of different levels, cultures, and operating models.

·       Role modelling a positive work culture based on respect for people, integrity of actions, creativity and collaboration leading to increased productivity.

·       Proven ability in developing and managing high performing teams with clear vision; focused on orchestrating the strategic change agenda and driving tangible customer outcomes.

 

Observation of Internal Controls

·       The role holder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

Requirements

·       Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a fast-changing discipline.

·       The role requires a comprehensive understanding of several value units / products / regions / legal entities, alongside an advanced understanding of the industry and the relative positioning of the HSBC's products and services.

·       Management responsibility of multiple teams, through subordinate managers, with accountability for independent budgets.

·       Covers a wide range of activities that require complex judgements based on advanced analytical thought. Problems often require an innovative approach, based on extensive research
