We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist
The ICON Pod within (European) Fund Administration, is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and support (L1/2/3) of the vendor application ICON, and the small to medium size scripts and applications which surround/complement it. Together, these components make up the ICON IT service which supports the European Fund Administration business.
ICON has been installed at HSBC for 20+ years, it runs on on-prem Red Hat Linux servers and was recently upgraded to a version that utilizes an Oracle database. The pod is looking for an additional, experienced technologist to join the existing team to maintain and support the platform.
In this role, you will:
- Implement software upgrades as provided by the vendor.
- Develop new and maintain existing small to medium size scripts and applications.
- Keep the service compliant with compliance, audit, security etc. requirements, including, but not limited to regular server patching and carrying out DR/failover and backup and recovery tests.
- Work on service sustainability projects (hardware and OS upgrades).
- Provide production support across the service, taking turns on a 24*7 support rota.
- Perform releases and upgrades at weekends during the service’s maintenance window.
- Maintain service documentation.
- Be prepared to work on other IT deliveries across the Global Fund Administration ecosystem.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Unix, including scripting.
- Have worked with vendor application implementations.
- ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) Service Management – foundation certificate holder desirable but not required.
- Production support/troubleshooting (working alongside specialist teams of Unix SA’s and Oracle DBA’s).
- Be a good problem solver with well-developed analytical skills.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills, being able to communicate effectively with IT, change management and business colleagues alike, with fluent written and spoken English.
- Be proactive and self-motivated and be able to work under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
- Have worked in a DevOps environment.
- Be knowledgeable of Agile working methodologies.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Java server-side programming – be able to carry out upgrades to existing applications.
- Experience of working with applications that utilize Oracle.
- Familiarity of scheduling tools, particularly Control-M.
- Familiarity of monitoring tools, particularly GENEOS.
- Experience of capacity management and performance metric tracking.
- Familiarity with deployment pipelines and tools such as Nexus, Jenkins and Ansible.
- Familiarity of dashboarding tools, particularly Grafana and Prometheus.
- Familiarity of JIRA and Confluence.
- Familiarity of Kanban Agile methodology.
