We are looking for Manager – Sustainable Finance for CMB India business, who will work with the coverage and other teams to deliver the Group’s sustainable development agenda

Principal Responsibilities

  • Generate ESG business insights, market themes and develop sales enablement tools, trainings and materials to support frontline in enriching client conversations
  • Support and drive the execution of in country Sustainable Finance strategy and accelerate growth for Commercial Banking portfolio
  • Be the Knowledge Champion for New Economy Sectors and work with RM and other teams to originate and execute transactions in New Economy sector
  • Engage frontline to identify and originate business opportunities, and work alongside structured banking teams/ RMs on client pitches and deal execution
  • Take ownership of diligent deal pipeline management and reporting
  • Keep abreast of local market and competitor trends, and collaborate with regional and country product teams to facilitate ESG loan product governance, trainings, implementation and on-going management
  • Participate and support country management in partnership development activities with local government bodies and industry consortiums
  • Support country leadership strategy and strategic communications in internal regional townhalls and external client events in relation to latest HSBC ESG strategy and market development
  • Conduct business intelligence and portfolio analysis to identify priority clients in high risk and emerging sectors in relation to the Sustainability agenda
  • Lead and coordinate the Transition Risk management agenda across the CMB portfolio and act as an SME to support RMs navigate their clients’ transition risk and related transition engagement plans
  • Collaborate with regional / country counterparts, COO and risk teams to oversee and support the smooth implementation of strategic projects, portfolio analysis, governance reviews on regulatory policies and WMR workstreams in relation to the Sustainability agenda
  • Engage with ASP CMB Sustainable Finance team/ Sustainable Finance Committee / Reputational Risk teams as needed to ensure seamless and timely endorsements of Sustainable Finance transactions are in place prior to execution and marketing
  • Ensure compliance with reporting and disclosure requirements, Business MI on Sustainable Finance asset and revenue volumes, to provide accurate representation to regional / country senior management as well as Internal and external reporting requirements
  • Monitor and track implementation of Sustainability strategy and initiatives, with performance assessed against pertinent KPIs, metrics, tools and reviews (including Internal Audit);
Requirements
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills with customer centric mindset, prior client facing/ relationship management experience preferred. Ideally, experience in the Commercial or Corporate Banking environment
  • Good understanding of commercial banking products and services and prior knowledge in ESG, Emerging and New Economy sectors, sustainable finance products or transactions an advantage
  • Demonstrable experience in growing revenue through providing tailored solutions and increasing new business and/or devising business strategies
  • Self-motivated and action-oriented personality with strong ownership to drive business performance and the success of strategy development and implementation
  • Ability to work with agility in changing strategic and commercial contexts
  • Ability to engage a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver at pace and build a trusted-advisor relationship with working partners
  • Passionate about the ESG agenda and keen interest to broaden knowledge in this area
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Post graduate degree in business management or finance or chartered accountancy is desirable

Additional Information

  • Mandatory to successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required
  • The GCB 4 or GCB 5 will be offered depending on the selected candidate's skill and relevant experience
