We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Software Engineering Manager.
Business: Markets & Sec Services Tech
Principal responsibilities
- Establish a team of highly-skilled engineers that will then cross-pollinate best practice and engineering excellence across the organization
- Collaborate and drive the IT service and underlying PoD to deliver in value stream
- Participate the development of Traded Risk project and work effectively with the global team
- Mentoring and provide guidance to team for building technical competent solutions.
- Managing staff based on objectives and behaviour standards
- Leading & inspiring the team to achieve and exceed their goals
- Developing and uplifting team overall capability aiming for end to end delivery responsibility
- Talent management and succession planning
- Ensuring quality processes are defined and adhered to
- Identification and assessment of risk
- Stakeholder management
- Managing third party vendors and vendor service providers
- A natural technologist with proven tracking record in delivering cloud based systems from scratch or delivering technology solutions with functional and non-functional similarities to Traded Risk use cases.
- A focus on the basic tenets of sound technical design and a desire to embed architecture rigour
- Strong capability in leading the organization transformation.
- Solid experience in managing and leading a medium to large size team in a technical environment.
- Vendor management experience and proven experience in managing outcomes.
- Demonstrable success in project/management methods and techniques.
- Experience in leading IT delivery in a medium to large size team
- Knowledge and experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Knowledge and experience in Agile and DevOps development practices
- Ability to manage multiple challenging stakeholders globally with conflicting priorities.
- Able to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems.
- Excellent communicator who can liaise with different teams and different cultures globally
- Fluent English speaker
- Self-motivated and willing to learn new technologies and business domain
What additional skills will be good to have?
Desired experience:
- Knowledge of Financial Risk management in banking or financial industry
- Knowledge specific to the Traded Risk domain
- Knowledge and experience specific to the OLAP & BI technology
- Knowledge of new and emerging technologies such as Cloud, Big Data, AI etc.
- Knowledge of HSBC policies, processes and procedures is an advantage
Business:
- Have a good understanding of the Traded Risk business. Able to translate business needs into appropriate IT solutions
- Broad and deep knowledge of Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk measures and aggregation practice (Value at Risk, Greeks, PFE, XVA, etc.)
Technical:
- Cloud technologies: (GCP, Amazon AWS)
- Databases & data model technologies (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Star/Snowflake Schema)
- OLAP & BI technologies (ActivePivot, Kyligence, Superset, Clickview)
- Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Java/ Java GUI, XMLA/ XSLT, Python, Spark
- Infrastructure as Code
- Passion for technology & understanding how things work
