This is a senior role within the Direct Lending team which was established by HSBC Asset Management (“AM”). This individual will be responsible for supporting/leading assessment and analysis of private credit transactions for recommendation to Investment Committee and the ongoing monitoring of portfolio.
As our Senior Vice President, US Direct Lending you will:
- Build strong relationships with financial sponsors, advisers, management teams, and other HSBC Bank origination professionals in order to best position Asset Management funds for transactions
- Review information memorandums, business plans, third party due diligence reports (financial, commercial, legal and tax structuring reports) and other bespoke diligence (ESG, etc), and build/test assumptions of financial models provided (for new transactions)
- Manage of transaction documentation process in certain instances in conjunction with HSBC Bank’s leveraged finance team and external stakeholders to ensure that investments are completed in an efficient manner
- Oversight of investments post completion including involvement in investments showing signs of stress or distress
- Be a Coach of junior team members to ensure sharing of best practices and continued technical development on modelling, credit analysis, legal terms, etc
- Help to promote the direct lending capability to sales teams. Help prepare generic or ad-hoc marketing documents for fundraising. Assist in the production of ad-hoc research papers for marketing purposes
- Source new transaction opportunities, analysing these new transaction opportunities, taking them through due diligence, and executing loans. Once executed the team will also undertake portfolio monitoring
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $190,000.00 and $260,000.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- A minimum of 6 years’ experience gained in private credit, leveraged finance, structured finance or similar with some exposure to mid-market lending and working alongside financial sponsors desirable
- A strong level of commercial acumen and awareness, including of economic, cultural, procedural, and regulatory issues of business
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders. Able to evidence relationships with mid-market financial sponsors, advisers, and corporates
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations to people at all levels within the business
- Strong analytical skills including working with financial models and an understanding of the fundamentals of investment appraisal
- A desire to work as part of a team where success is collective, and people work together closely to achieve objectives
- Excellent time management, planning, and organisation skills
- A strong interest in business including a desire to understand different business models, strategy, the dynamics at work in different industries
- Extensive experience of restructuring
- Experience of working in a direct lending fund or similar lending platform
