Role
The Strategic Change Director is responsible for delivering change execution in the UAE and MENAT which includes the regulatory and non-regulatory portfolio.
In this role you will have end to end responsibility for all aspects of your portfolio: working with business or product owners to define and plan the programmes, managing mobilisation, balancing demand with funding & resource supply, managing FRP, controlling execution and managing implementation.
Key Accountabilities:
- You are responsible for the governance of Change Execution Risk in MENAT, and act as Control Owner of the same. Deploying the Change Framework within their portfolio of initiatives and instilling good programme disciplines is expected as part of this role.
- In addition to overall portfolio responsibility, you will also plan, mobilise and direct change programmes of varying complexity from inception to closure. They are typically responsible for overseeing large scale change programmes and business transformations as well as managing projects in ‘special measures. Special measures are programmes that are moving or are off track and need intensive care actions to get back on track.
- This change role is a leadership role. It has line management responsibility for permanent and contract resources in multiple locations, and oversees staff based in Transformation hubs on an indirect basis. They act as a role model, demonstrating active leadership and communication. This role manages change for the entity and within that it is responsible for Banking (formerly known as Wholesale Banking), IWBP as well as entity change.
- You will work closely with the Global and Regional Head of GCOO Transformation as well as MENAT teams to ensure alignment of their portfolio with wider global portfolios, and Group Strategy, Values and Behaviours. The role holder is a key member of the Transformation leadership team contributing to, defining and driving the future development of the Transformation organisation, operating strategy and capability requirements in line with industry best practice.
- Accountable for ensuring there are the right skills to deliver and that the performance of our strategic partners meets the necessary standards to deliver the required business/function change pipeline.
In order to apply for the role you will ideally have the following:
Knowledge
• Strong understanding of banking and understanding of how change drives benefits for a bank, its customers and other stakeholders.
• Very strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
• Excellent understanding of transformation, Waterfall and Agile methodologies and best practice techniques.
Experience
• Extensive experience in successfully designing and implementing large-scale, complex global/ regional change initiatives is essential.
• Proven experience leading change programs across markets, whilst maintaining a global perspective.
• Demonstrated ability to create and drive large-scale programmatic change in large organisations.
• Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the group.
• Proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-culturally diverse work environments.
• Evidence of ability to make key strategic decisions.
• Strong analytical background and proven ability in analytical rigor, including being able to contextualize data into business activities and conclusions.
• Proven ability in successfully designing and implementing large-scale, complex global/ regional change initiatives.
• Demonstration of commerciality with strong financial acumen.
• Strong people and team management experience.
• Successful experience in developing and retaining critical talent and building an effective leadership team.

Qualifications and Accreditations
• Master’s degree (e.g. MBA) in related field or commensurate practical experience.
