We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Vice President, Financial Crime
Business: Risk & Compliance
Principal responsibilities
- Assist in delivering an end-to-end oversight of TM framework including data, model, investigation, and risk assessment.
- Prepare the packs / submissions for multiple regional and global governance forums like TMOB, MENAT FC ManCo, etc.
- Preparing TM related papers with highest quality within stringent timelines and present it in competent governance forums.
- Roll out of Global TM Strategy in the Region.
- Review thematic TM issues across Lines of Business (LoBs) and Countries in the Region and liaise with Audit, Assurance and other review functions to help resolve / create consistency.
- Provide appropriate AML SME expertise, with support from the wider FC team, with specific focus on assessing AML risks related to TM as a key control.
- Support the Regional Data Governance in ensuring that the data quality for the identified critical data element impacting TM is improved and complete.
- Responsible for the governance of TM control framework, ensuring that proposed changes or new TM capabilities, support the overall AML goals and enhance the ability to deter, detect and protect against financial crime risks.
- Drive the TM Risk Assessment process in the Region and Country in close collaboration with LoB.
- To form recommendations and provide guidance (both at a strategic and operational level) that are required to ensure the effectiveness of TM monitoring controls.
- To oversee the Operational Effectiveness work for TM.
- Support the delivery of training on ML risks for all business products, services across the Region, providing SME support.
- Perform advance analytics to assess various FC risks and provide recommendations to enhance the detection capabilities.
- Record keeping of all TM related activities including audits, projects, model documents, etc.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Work closely with FC colleagues from Global / Regional / Country FC, LoB, LoB FC advisory, IT, and Transformation functions to oversee and deliver an effective TM programme.
- Work closely with the Lines of Business, Regions and Change Team, to effectively communicate and provide transparency to their respective businesses over AML Risk associated with Transaction Monitoring.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Monitor changes to business practices and products to ensure adequate TM coverage.
- Control the monitoring, tracking and resolving of issues, risks and dependencies on analysis, requirements gathering, design and delivery project tasks.
Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder’s abilities)
- Work with global / regional FC teams across LoBs and countries.
- Clearly articulating business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings to both Compliance colleagues and Senior Management.
- Supporting decisions with sound reasoning and rationale.
- To co-ordinate multiple areas in the delivery of systems and processes that span across functions, adhere to tight deadlines and on occasion fall subject to changing requirements, all occurring within an environment of tight budgetary control.
- Fostering and maintaining an attitude of 'can do' within the Regional AML / TM Function.
- Keeping abreast of all regulatory developments together with changes to Group Standards in order to ensure appropriateness of advice.
Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)
- Data analytics to maintain effective TM oversight.
- Supporting regional endeavors in terms of technology changes, system implementations and upgrades, data analytics, data modelling and warehousing using Python and knowledge of AI / ML / Deep Learning concepts.
- Preparation of packs and meeting minutes for TM governance forums.
- Prepare management responses for all internal and external examinations with good quality report writing skills and adequate evidence to support the statement.
- Raise the MSIIs and review the issue closure packs as appropriate.
- Maintain a collaborative and positive working environment among all stakeholders and senior leadership team.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in AML / TM and Sanctions knowledge experience, preferably gained within HSBC or one of its peers.
- Good understanding of business lines operating at global banks.
- Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders and regional teams handling AML / TM processes such as AML / TM Investigations / Operations.
- Demonstrated experience in handling (from a functional perspective) projects in the FCC space in a global context (example – implementation of Transaction Monitoring systems).
- Experience working in model development and advanced data analytics with advanced tools like Python, R, Qlik, etc.
- Familiarity with Machine learning and AI concepts will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge or experience with machine learning, AI and Technical coding is preferred.
- Logical thinking, problem solving and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication skill (oral, written, and presentational).
- Maintain a collaborative and positive working environment among all stakeholders and senior leadership team.
- Understanding of Compliance systems and HELIOS is preferred.
