HSBC’s Infrastructure Finance (HIF) Group is responsible for infrastructure and export financings, providing a full suite of services to corporate and financial sponsors in a number of sectors, including Power & Utilities, Energy, Renewables, Digital & Telecoms, Transport, Logistics, Support Services, ESG and Carbon Neutral assets. The team provides a single point for clients to access advice on financings, capital structure and debt capital markets, as well as associated execution of mandates. HIF will play a critical role in supporting and financing the energy transition for our clients.
As a Vice President based in Sydney, you will be joining a growing team, supporting a Director to drive the portfolio management of assets in the infrastructure finance business. In doing so, you will have involvement in the entire range of internal and external related processes including asset management, preparation and presentation of internal and client requests, as well as executive aspects related to the management of portfolio assets through ongoing credit analysis and portfolio management support.
You will be a self-starter with a genuine interest in this exciting sector, who enjoys being part of a collaborative high performing team. In addition to your technical skills, your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships will be key to this role.

Your main responsibilities will include:
• Working closely with a Director, assisting the team with the delivery of business targets through supporting and managing the performance of assets in the Infrastructure Finance portfolio.
• Working on the internal approval process through preparation of business and credit papers as part of portfolio management.
• Undertaking modelling, due diligence, financial and credit analysis of projects and asset performance, including responsibility for reviews and consent/waiver and amendment requests.
• Executing distribution initiatives for the Infrastructure Finance portfolio, including collaboration with syndicate and secondary market transactions.
• Undertaking capital management of assets and any restructuring work that may be required.
• Regular client engagement and internal collaboration to identify business and capital optimisation opportunities.
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, as part of the process of proactive portfolio management, including maintaining the credit profile of the portfolio and managing the velocity of the balance sheet.
• Strong and open cooperation within the team as well as other teams across the bank, in particular product and relationship management partners, credit, compliance and others for optimal client and business outcomes and portfolio monitoring and reporting requirements.
• Understanding and ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures with a focus on Global Standards including conduct, AML & Sanctions that apply to the business in which the jobholder is involved.
• Maintaining HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• Significant experience in infrastructure finance or a closely related field, coupled with a strong understanding of financial markets, gained in a corporate banking, infrastructure finance or professional services organisation.
• Proven track record of managing complex transactions in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
• Capacity to proactively manage assets end-to-end with minor supervision.
• Knowledge of financing documentation in the context of non-recourse transactions.
• Strong credit and financial analysis skills, including experience working on complex financial modelling
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with internal and external parties to manage complex infrastructure assets.
• In-depth knowledge of the Australia market, including key players, trends, and regulatory landscape.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and clients.
• A team player with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
• A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field plus a master's degree or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, MBA) is an advantage.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian or New Zealand PR/Citizenship, or who can show they currently have unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
