We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of 

Analyst Regulatory Compliance

Role purpose:

As a federally regulated financial institution, HSBC Bank USA, NA has a regulatory obligation to establish and maintain an effective framework to manage the risk of non-compliance with regulatory requirements. The US Regulatory Development team within Compliance is charged under the Regulatory Developments Functional Instruction Manual (FIM), with the responsibility for performance of the functions outlined in the FIM, which primarily include communication of Regulatory Changes, updating the regulation library as regulatory requirements are added or amended, and provision of reporting and management information related to Regulatory Changes. 

This role will provide support to the US Regulatory Development’s horizon scanning, regulation library, and reporting responsibilities, and be part of the US RD extension team. 

Functionally reporting to the US Director of Regulatory Development, and supervised locally by the Team Lead, Regulatory Compliance (new role), the Analyst Regulatory Compliance will interact with the Onshore Regulatory Development Team on a regular basis to ensure successful attainment of the objectives, including enhancing the efficiency of the process.

Main activities

  • Triage all automated alerts, which fall within defined jurisdiction and Risk Stewardship on a daily basis
  • Manually scan high priority regulator websites on a daily/weekly basis to ensure no gaps in coverage
  • Undertake initial Applicability Assessment of new Developments and Fines
  • Prepare weekly RAPID2 Newsletter
  • Generate email reminders to stakeholders regarding outstanding tasks in RAPID2
  • Complete ad hoc data requests
  • Update regulation library content within Helios
  • Other miscellaneous duties, as assigned
Requirements
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to build and maintain relationships
  • Takes initiative to resolve issues.
  • Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point).
