We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, Stress Testing

Principal responsibilities

  • The role supports the Group’s compliance with the Bank of England’s Resolvability Assessment Framework (RAF) which establishes capabilities Banks must have to be considered ‘resolvable’ by the Bank of England.
  • The role will ensure the accurate accounting for the economic value restatement of the Group’s balance sheet and the impact of management actions designed to support HSBC as a going concern or as a step towards resolution – its ‘Valuation in Resolution (ViR)’. 
  • The individual will lead the Finance Operations SP&ST Reporting Operations team in respect of Value in Resolution development and execution.
  • They will be expected to work with Global Finance Change and Finance IT teams to continue to develop robust and efficient processes to capture the impact of economic values and management actions on a management accounting ledger.  This will support the production of management information and analytics to allow management and an external valuer to understand the impact of economic activities on the Group balance sheet and regulatory capital.
  • To maintain documentation covering operating model, basis of preparation, risk assessments, data management and governance controls.
Requirements
  • Typical qualifications would include a bachelor’s degree/equivalent experience and the role holder may either have professional qualifications in Finance or be able to demonstrate active use of knowledge of the banking industry and experience of planning for complex activities.
  • Strong financial accounting knowledge to ensure that financial scenarios and management actions have the correct impact to the books and records of the Bank and as input data for the regulatory capital process.
  • For internal candidates it would be desirable for the individual to have a strong understanding of the TM1 application as well as the Group’s management information chart of accounts (MICA). 
  • A strong understanding of the Group’s reporting chart of accounts (GRCA) and the Saracen tool.
  • Past experience of working in Banking/Financial services organization of repute will be an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills on a business and technical level, quickly grasping and understanding processes and dependencies with the ability to apply and communicate the knowledge gained.
  • Confident to work effectively with stakeholders across the bank, driving and influencing outcomes to deliver activities on time and to progressively improve the efficiency of processes over the longer term.
