We are currently hiring for a Associate Director - IT Controls / Senior Manager – IT Controls who will be responsible for embedding the controls (e.g. Data Movement, Software Development Lifecycle, Deployment Management, etc.) across the Risk and Compliance Technology function (part of Enterprise Technology) and conducting control reviews across Risk and Compliance applications. The IT Controls Lead will play a key role in improving the state of the control effectiveness across Risk and Compliance Technology.Embedding the controls

The role holder is responsible for understanding the NFR (Non-Financial Risk) control requirements, operating instructions, devising a plan to roll out the controls and monitor the control effectiveness. This role will require collaborating with the IT application owners, Enterprise Technology stakeholders, Group Control Owner, CCO Technology and Senior Management within Risk and Compliance IT. 

Control Reviews / Continuous Monitoring Assessment - The role is responsible for gathering information, conducting reviews and identifying any control gaps within our applications. This involves executing spot checks by liaising with the application owners, undertaking documentation reviews and analysing available data (e.g. KCIs). For any identified gaps, the role holder will work with the IT application team to assist them in understanding and remediating those gaps.

Key duties include:

  • Lead multiple themes for R&C Technology under TRCB programme.
  • Understand the IT control requirements, operating instructions and key control indicators (KCIs).
  • Work with the Application owners and Service Leads to ensure that the control requirements are being met.
  • Undertake continuous control monitoring activities (CMA) i.e. periodic detailed reviews/ assessments of IT controls across a sample of Risk and Compliance Technology applications.
  • Ensure all the key stakeholders are aware of the IT Control status, issues and blockers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from Enterprise Technology, Group Control Owner, Chief Control Office Technology, Automation Teams and Senior Management within Risk and Compliance Technology
  • Maintain relationships with specialised controls departments such as Cyber to ensure Risk & Compliance Tech remains up-to-date with latest developments and can distil these for consumption by the ITSO community.
  • Represent Risk and Compliance Technology across various governance forums (including senior forums like RCMMs)
  • Supporting the Head of Controls in improving the effectiveness and reporting of the controls
  • Act as an ambassador for the team and promote Risk and Compliance Technology Controls when engaging stakeholders, system owners and wider ET community.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the team's methodologies and operating assets.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Exposure to IT Controls
  • Proven track record of delivering results
  • Ability to work with senior IT stakeholders and drive results within resource and time constraints.
  • Excellent English written & verbal communication skills. Articulate author of analysis - able to present complex issues in a clear, concise and digestible manner.
  • Strong influencing skills that will be required to influence the ITSO and engineering community to adopt the Bank’s technology controls.
  • Naturally inquisitive self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision. 

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience of working with Financial Crime Risk / Compliance systems such as Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions, etc.
