The US Technology Cloud Governance and Strategy Lead role will be part of the US Technology Chief Information Office (CIO) and will be responsible for delivering Cloud strategy. This role focuses on extracting the highest value from the Cloud market with its associated resilience and security. This role will support regional Technology leadership through regulatory and strategic governance and stakeholder management related to Cloud technology, representing the region’s interest with external regulators and with HSBC Group executive leadership.

As our Cloud Governance and Strategy Lead you will:

  • Provide support to Regional CIO, when necessary, on matters relating to execution of GB/GF strategy and reports to regulatory entities and the Board at regional level

  • Collaborate with peer Regional Heads, GB/GFs, and other senior Technology personnel to implement GB/GF goals in region in line with policies and Technology strategy, priorities, and budget

  • Govern Cloud strategy to ensure proper review and approval prior to implementation. This includes preparing and chairing US Cloud externally hosted meetings

  • Protect data from attack and unauthorized access through market leading defense in depth, encryption, and access management controls

  • Use geographical distribution for resilience and reduced latency, retaining control of the physical location of systems and data

  • Engage with multiple global Cloud providers (Google (GCP), Amazon (AWS), and Microsoft (Azure)) to leverage their individual capabilities across geographic coverage and to provide contingency options in the event of a failure of any one Cloud provider

  • Be the leadership face of Cloud Services within the region, acting as the primary interface between the regional regulators, CIOs, local GB/GF teams, and Cloud Services globally

  • Lead the regulatory engagement across all markets in the region, in partnership with the regional CDOs, Chief Architects, CIOs, R&C, and Legal

  • Represent Cloud Services in Regional Technology and COO EXCOs to understand regional business aspirations and challenges with respect to Cloud adoption

  • Support Cloud Services Platform Leads to work with local Procurement, R&C, and Legal on regional contractual Cloud Service Provider matters.

    For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $141,300.00 and $211,900.00

    The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Strong understanding of the global Cloud Services in location to ensure all people development matters progress in line with local practice

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage relationships with Cloud service providers in region and ensure adequate support is in place for the regional Technology teams

  • Ability to lead Cloud Services resources in the region to ensure all regional budgeted change initiatives are adequately resourced and able to deliver in line with business requirements

  • Strong understanding of native Cloud services and utilization

  • Ability to prioritize standards and common technologies to support contingency plans for key services

  • Ability to act as a regional/local engagement point for the Technology and Global Cloud Services agenda.
