Your career opportunity
Model Risk Stewards are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities of the first line. They monitor compliance with the globally set policies and guidelines for managing risks related to models, and provide advice, training and guidance to support these policies. They also ensure that regulatory requirements are adhered to and provide effective guidance to the businesses and functions, as well as challenging the first line to ensure that its risk management activities are working effectively.

What you’ll do
Form close working relationships with stakeholders.
Collaborate with Global and Regional Model Risk Stewardship colleagues to escalate risks and issues as appropriate.
Support the execution of the Group Model Risk policies and implement Operational Risk and Non-Financial Risk Programme deliverables. 
Adopt a risk management and internal control structure, referred to as the Three Lines of Defence, to ensure it achieves its commercial aims while meeting regulatory and legal requirements and its responsibilities to stakeholders, customers and staff. All staff must familiarise themselves and adhere at all times with the role and supporting responsibilities they play in the Three Lines of Defence. 
Enhance risk understanding and control across HSBC’s Products and Services across the Global Business / Function.
Work closely with key stakeholders within the Global Business / Global Function on reporting of progress against appetite and the adequacy of policy and the control environment.
Be adaptable from supporting the First Line of Defence achieving their goals safely to recommending escalation of their risk management capability as required.
Operate within a changing and rapidly developing regulatory environment.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
Knowledge of model risk management, governance and/or model development / validation. 
Experience of managing senior stakeholder and external communications.
Knowledge and expertise of markets and HSBC’s different business lines (GBM or CMB experience preferable).
Matrix management experience.
Proven ability to develop strong networks with key stakeholders at all points in a matrix structure, creating an ability to execute task at hand with minimum conflict.
Ability to deliver Model Risk Management policies.
Model Risks and Controls management experience.
Ability to utilise and apply Model Risk Management in context.
