The GCIO Chief Control Office (CCO) team plays an important role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management. We do this by providing operational risk and control expertise, specialist technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the businesses and functions we serve. 

Key activities include implementation and oversight of the Group’s Risk Management Framework, ongoing and targeted controls assessments, implementing and maintaining robust risk governance, and championing a proactive risk culture. GCIO CCO works closely with partners across all lines of defense and is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with our regulators and external partners. 

GCIO CCO Shared Services Team will work on improvement of existing ways of working, tools and processes for risk and control management 

What you’ll do
    • Partner with the CISO CCO to oversee and run the Governance team supporting the CISO CCO. This includes risk committee papers, risk framework hygiene oversight, special projects and other related governance activities. In addition, provides entity management oversight of CISO CCO team in Poland.   
    • You will be a leader within the GCIO Chief Control Office (GCIO CCO) Function that directly supports the  Group CISO within HSBC.
    • Act as trusted advisor for senior management by partnering to manage their operational risk i.e., risk assessments, control environment, issues management.
    • Ensure that high quality governance materials are produced and that we meet Group governance requirements for CISO CCO and the CISO Risk Committee. 
    • Advise and design governance processes to proactively identify opportunities for improvement, consistency and quality. 
    • Ensure that team-related requirements tied to hiring, headcount, budget and other organisational hygiene activities are undertaken with quality. 
    • Partner with CISO Governance, GCIO CCO Governance and other related functions to ensure the smooth operation of the overall Governance portfolio. 
    • Lead Change and other Special Projects as required for GCIO CCO. Oversee any projects owned by GCIO CCO.


What you need to have to succeed in this role:
    • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Technology Governance, Cyber Governance or other related Governance activities in a Financial Services or other heavily regulated industry. 
    • At least 5 years working in a Technology or Cybersecurity Organization is desirable. 
    • Experience across IT, Operations, Risk Management, and / or Audit roles requiring management of diverse risk types is desirable.
    • Previous experience of identifying, defining and solving problems that have impact on your work or the wider business.
    • Proven track record of process improvement and delivering as promised, as well as strong communication skills to influence and challenge stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, ability to present complex issues concisely to senior partners using non-technical language.
    • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, flexible and adaptable, able to handle and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
    • Active industry recognized certificates will be an asset, e.g. CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CCSP etc.
