Project & Programme Management roles lead change initiation, design and delivery and are accountable for successful delivery of both Technology and Business Change Programmes and ensuring benefits realisation. They operate at an executive level and engage and influence a wide spectrum of stakeholders and partners across HSBC. The remit area may be market-based, regional or global, and may cross multiple GB/GFs
What you’ll do
- Drive/support programme delivery proactively, balancing scope, schedule, interdependencies, budget and risks
- Assist business stakeholders with the decomposition of complex business requirements into Epics and User Stories that can be delivered by Technology teams via respective backlogs with minimum cross product co-ordination
- Manage/support relationships with internal and external stakeholders in addition to providing support to senior Project / Programme mangers across all stages of the initiative lifecycle to deliver larger / more complex / high priority Programmes & Projects
- Drive/support the use of Agile methodologies within Technology teams (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean) in line with corresponding transformation frameworks at the bank
- Lead/support definition of staffing/resourcing, responsibilities and schedules as well as leading/ supporting the establishment of effective program controls and procedures.
- Drive /support the adoption of HSBC standards, manage / support the development and promotion of the technology portfolio and project management practices, whilst working in alignment with Change framework at all times
- Lead the team to meet programme objectives and be held accountable for all elements of programme financial management, including headcount and software delivery capitalisation as well as managing relationships with and service agreement monitoring of external suppliers, including technology supplier.
- Report progress, issues, dependencies and risks to steering committees / initiative leadership and make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Ideal candidate will have experience & knowledge of working in multiple lines of business, IT vendors and product.
- Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders and work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities
- Ability to bring analytical rigour and structure and effective solutions to poorly defined problems by utilising good conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with business and IT stakeholders in global environment and experience with Private banking industry is a plus
- Strong communication skills - applicable through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations) with all levels of stakeholders
- Typical qualifications would include a Bachelor's degree / equivalent experience, and the role holder will have professional qualifications in Project/Programme Management e.g. Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, setting stretching goals for self and teams and delivering them with courage and tenacity
