Risk & Compliance technology design and deploy cutting edge technology to defend the bank and its customers from Sanctions Risk, Financial Crime Risk, Identity Threat, Unauthorised Trading and Market Abuse & Regulatory Sanctions, as well as supporting Enterprise Risk Management.  We provide the systems that enable our global businesses to grow through data-driven, pro-active risk management.
Group Electronic Communication Surveillance (GECS) is a solution that is run by R&C IT Surveillance currently provides regulatory electronic communication surveillance capabilities for HSBC globally. GECS analyses electronic communication traffic such as emails and instant messaging communications and applies various regulatory and HSBC policies against the communications.
We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer with broad expertise in developing microservice-based applications using Java.


What you’ll do 
Design, build, and maintain large-scale, hybrid on-premises and cloud-based systems 
Automate workflows and processes, focusing on system compliance and up-to-date operations 
Ensure production availability and reliability of services—own what you build, from development through to operation 
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions 
Continuously improve systems, processes, and your own skillset through feedback and learning 


What you need to have to succeed in this role 
Proven experience in software development with modern languages Java 17+ (must have)
Open-minded attitude, eager to learn and adopt new technologies and practices 
Basic skills in Python / Go / or any other programming language (nice to have)
Pragmatic approach to programming and solution delivery
Solid understanding and application of Test-Driven Development 
Understanding of DevSecOps principles and hands-on experience with related tools 
Practical experience with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and continuous testing frameworks
