As the Governance, Reporting and Advisory Specialist function within US COO, we are accountable for driving the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First Line of Defense.  As part of the First Line of Defense, the CCO ensures the bank operates within its risk appetite by providing specialist risk and control knowledge and promoting ongoing risk and control monitoring as our Bank becomes simpler, more efficient, more customer-focused, and leaner.  

As our Governance, Reporting and Advisory Specialist you will:

 

  • Provide quality risk and control analysis and develop guidance for stakeholders on the Risk Management Framework, including Risk and Control Assessments, Continuous Monitoring Plans, Internal Events and Losses, as well as Management of Issues related to controls impacting region, proactively identifying issues and ensuring continuous improvement of environment

  • Facilitate senior management decision making by providing assessments of risk and control environment, oversight of continuous monitoring plans, oversight of the Internal Events and Losses, and communication of subject matter expertise and analysis during issue management process 

  • Cultivate a positive controls culture and a culture of continuous improvement when interacting with stakeholders on control related matters, while holding them accountable for their work

  • The role holder will be responsible for developing relevant risk management reporting for Board and Executives as required

  • Make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business

    For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $85,000.00 and $110,000.00

    The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

 

  • Intellectually curious, willing to dive into issues to identify root causes and think critically on sustainable solutions

  • Ability to build and shape narratives and work with CCO staff to influence senior management on a variety of risk-management-related topics

  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently and distil complex, ambiguous information to create insights for leaders

  • Ability to quickly analyse a status quo and identify opportunities for continuous improvement or process re-engineering

  • Advanced Excel and PPT skills, ability to create process design/analysis, as well as understanding of basic AI capabilities

  • Deep understanding of Risk Management Framework, and ability to provide guidance and advice to the senior business stakeholders on a variety of Risk and Control topics, including but not limited to Internal Events, Losses, Rapid Escalations

  • Good understanding of accounting principles is important

  • Senior individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, that can negotiate and effectively challenge senior stakeholders, while providing sound and pragmatic risk and control advice, and ability to operate independently and problem solve
