The Head of Channels Business Management is a key role in the business, responsible for running the Business  Management Office (BMO) team and the planning, management and reporting on the day-to-day strategy and operations of the Channels business. The role reports to Head of Channels, Wealth & Personal Banking, and sits on the Channels leadership team.
 
A strong communicator, the position works with senior internal and external stakeholders to regularly evaluate and forecast the tracking of the overall Channels objectives and provides reporting and business plans to the WPB Head of Channels, reporting on all Channels against all metrics within the Channels Business.

This is a 7 month fixed term maternity leave contract role.

This role has 6 direct reports.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage Channels:
  • FTE / staff / leave reporting and forecasting as well as the P&L implications,
  • Cost reporting, planning and forecasting,
  • Business Continuity Plans (BCPs),
  • Business administration function, including internal and external event coordination,
  • Internal communications and engagement content.
  • Create business plans and strategic outlines for future years’ planning discussions.
  • Oversee and produce required business reports and provide insights in addition to managing/challenging cost centre transactions in Channels.
  • Ensure core monthly and quarterly reports are delivered on time.
  • Continuous improvement of analytical, month-end and forecasting reporting processes to deliver enhanced outcomes.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Management of ad-hoc projects.


  

Requirements

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Demonstrated business knowledge, such as understanding of retail banking and distribution strategies, structures, processes and objectives, and experience leading complex change.
  • Strong financial analytical background and proven ability in financial/analytical reasoning, including being able to contextualise financial data into business activities and conclusions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language, both oral and written.
  • Proven negotiation, stakeholder management, motivational, analytical, planning, communications, organisational, problem-solving, managerial, project management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high volume environment with a high level of drive and motivation, to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously across HSBC.
  • Ability to promote a people focussed culture that encourages the use of one’s own initiative to own and resolve issues.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
