Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments and multinational corporations, Markets & Securities Services offers a range of fund administration, global custody sub-custody and clearing services.
The Fund Services Team is a client focused business based across both Barangaroo and Parramatta, servicing Asset Owners and Asset Managers. Asset Owners consist of Life and General Insurance Funds, Sovereign Wealth, or Endowment Funds. Asset Managers manage Trusts including ETFs and/or Managed Funds.
The team has extensive interaction with external clients and internal teams across operations, funds and investment administration, Global Custody and other internal group functions such as product, technology and sales both locally and across the APAC region.
This high-profile role will provide you with a unique position incorporating unit pricing, fund accounting, tax and financial reporting services. You will be leading a united and client focused team through an exciting period of continued growth, providing opportunity for career development both within HSBC Australia and across our global network.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Full responsibility for fund accounting and tax services operations including working with senior stakeholders, clients, regulators and industry forums, applying a thorough understanding of valuation/pricing methodologies for products such as Trusts, ETFs, SIVs, Private Equity and Derivatives.
- Actively managing a team of high-quality fund and tax accountants, including training, mentoring and ongoing feedback, ensuring continual professional growth and career development.
- Ongoing stakeholder relationship management, involving regular interaction with clients, brokers, custodians, auditors and offshore service centres.
- Partnering with the sales and business development teams to facilitate revenue growth.
- Maintaining a fluid and efficient client on-boarding process with a keen eye for detail and service excellence.
- Ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of both internal and external financial reporting, financial regulatory reporting, statutory reporting, and variance analysis.
- Managing all operations, ensuring that Fund Accounting requirements are met including oversight, review and preparation of daily deliverables.
- Business process re-engineering for risk mitigation, enhanced operational efficiencies, system implementations, fund launches and product development
- Ongoing monitoring and improvement of risk and compliance controls.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Significant previous experience in a similar role in Australia with fund accounting and tax experience.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of Australian accounting standards / principles and taxation affecting asset owner & manager products, managed investments and superannuation funds.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing a team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with multiple asset classes such as equities, fixed income, managed funds and unlisted securities, as well as corporate events.
- Ability to research and analyse legislative requirements and changes to update policy documents, checklists, templates, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, external services providers and internal departments.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to juggle competing deadlines, problem solve and respond to client queries in a timely fashion.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or another relevant discipline, with a professional CA/CPA qualification an advantage.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
