People Function

The People Function leads the implementation of the Bank’s people strategy in line with our company priorities and focus. This includes optimising culture and organization development, talent acquisition and management, succession planning, employee engagement building, as well as performance and reward management.  

We are currently seeking a seasoned HR leader to join this dedicated team in the role of Head of People Advisory. The Head of People Advisory plays a critical role in managing and mitigating people risk for the Bank and supporting managers having confidence to lead their teams with integrity. This role reports to the Head of People, Hang Seng Bank China.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the People Advisory team to provide advice to business leaders in relation to employee relations activities, as well as complex multi stranded enquiries across the spectrum of People Function services.
  • Support business to deliver change and drive productivity.
  • Lead and manage internal investigations in HACN and ensure the investigations are compliant with Group investigation framework.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, industry regulations, and the Bank's values by implementing, reviewing and updating employment policies and procedures.
  • Provide complex interpretation of People policy and procedures and oversight of some complex events which need higher touch handling (e.g. serious / sensitive staff cases, redundancy, business change programme) working with the HR Consultants and CoE teams.
  • Deliver coaching and briefings to the business in supporting HR cyclical events, thematic and people risk related issues.
  • Manage case volumes; assign cases to team members with the right level of capability to ensure outcomes are delivered to the customer’s expectations.
Requirements
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills / attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, conflict resolution and communication skills, and skills, written and verbal.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem solving, and decision-making ability combined with influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure within demanding and changing timescales.
  • A good understanding of the principles of Employee Relations, HR policies and procedures as well as relevant employment law and regulations.
  • Strict adherence to the requirements of confidentiality, discretion and integrity.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Proficiency in both English and Mandarin.
