Head of Propositions Data and Analytics

This position manages multiple teams of senior professionals through other senior managers (GCB 3).  Leads the strategy for 5+ million customers, manages US$4.5 billion in demand deposit balances and is directly accountable for US$ 455 million in revenues (30% of WPB total revenues). The function is a key enabler indirectly accountable WPB total revenues.

It requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories and practices relevant to retail banking products and customer segments, as well as practical experience of multiple business, business cycles and analytics. In-depth knowledge of the consumer banking industry in Mexico and direct competitors’ product/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial and strategic objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the WPB business, combined with a solid conceptual and practical grounding in both, the function and / or area of expertise.

Responsabilities:

Has full management responsibility of multiple teams, including Customer Segments Propositions, Demand Deposits, Savings Accounts, Debit Cards, WPB CRM, Data Managements & Decision Science-Analytics. Has the authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues / activities that have critical impact or influence on WPB revenues and business operations. Has a direct report line to the WPB Executive Business Head, and sits at the functional Executive Committee within WPB Mexico & LAM. It also has an integral role at the Global Analytics and CRM CoE and Data & Information Management leadership team.

Major Challenges:

-   The role requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories and practices relevant to retail banking products and customer segments, as well as practical experience of multiple retail business, business cycles and analytics.

 

-   Demonstrates constant in-depth knowledge of the consumer banking industry trends and direct competitors’ product, services and offers in order to lead and contribute to the commercial and strategic objectives of WPB.

 

-   Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the WPB business, combined with a solid conceptual and practical grounding in both, the function and /or area of expertise.

 

-   Leads change and delivers on a significant transformation agenda, which requires in-depth knowledge and insights of the customer base, implementation of optimal business processes, analytics and technology.

 

-   Manages the balance between effective execution of day-to-day operations and services, whilst driving a substantial transformation agenda.

Requirements

           

  • Master in Finance, Business Administration, or related areas
  • 15+ years of experience in the financial industry: Retail Bank, Consumer Bank.
  • Expertise and practical experience in Consumer product / Retail product P&L management.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in strategy development and execution; quantitative analytics, product profitability modelling and financial analysis across multiple financial product categories and customer segments.
  • Strategic mindset and financial acumen.
  • In-breath knowledge about local banking regulation.
  • Understanding of systems across business lines and P&L interaction among products.
  • Excellent communication skills (both in English and Spanish) in order to influence a wide range of audiences in different organization layers / geographies.
  • Strong leadership skill.
  • Ability to set strategic direction and influence stakeholders, business partner, and ExCo management.
  • Capacity to learn fast from business initiatives and results and adapt those learnings to impact business.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex business environment, decision maker.
