Financial planning is an important component of HSBC’s Wealth customer acquisition strategy, delivering International customers as well as helping top-of-funnel conversion, converting banking clients into Wealth clients. Financial planning can also function as a wedge for access to centres of influence in tax, insurance and legal services. The Head of Wealth Planning and Advisory will lead a team of US based Wealth Planning professionals who partner closely with HSBC Private Bank Relationship Managers (UHNW) and Wealth Relationship Managers to assist in evaluation client financial assets to identify opportunities to maximize client impact and wealth. Inclusive of investment advice, trust and estate planning, as well as giving and social impact utilizing knowledge of tax and investment strategies, securities, insurance, pension plans and real estate. 

As our Head of Wealth Planning and Advisory you will:

  • Lead a team of Wealth Planners and Advisors in US to achieve the assigned annual team financial targets for generating revenue for the trustee companies and GPB

  • Work with Advisors to embed wealth planning as part of HSBC Wealth offering to clients in Ultra High Net Worth as well as Premier clients in Wealth clients

  • Through Financial planning  drive referral business across Private bank such as cross-line business referrals (income tax planning, business owner pre and post liquidity planning) as well as International Inbound referral business

  • Grow annuity revenues through effective engagement across PB Markets; and by working closely with Trust Services colleagues and Wealth Planning and Advisory teams in US, Europe and Asia

  • Comprehensive guidance across all aspects of wealth planning and related advisory activities (family office, family governance and philanthropy) to GPB clients and prospective clients

  • Work with Trust Services to develop and maintain competitive offerings through trustee activities, both in the US and globally

  • Close collaboration with clients, their legal and tax advisers, Wealth Planners (both within team and across all regions) and private bankers 

  • Develop long-term and trusting relationships with clients and their families, and in particular those in the target Ultra High Net Worth segment

  • Lead the wealth planners and advisors in ensuring the team's business objectives are met, and in an appropriate manner

  • Cross-selling of HSBC products and services, including international; maintain and develop strategies for increasing business with current clients, through partnership with CIB and Innovation Banking.

    For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $300,000.00 and $375,000.00

    The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Professional garnering relevant trust and wealth planning experience in a law firm, a financial institution or family office or trust company

  • Knowledge and experience in the area of trust and private client international law, cross border structuring, tax considerations, inheritance and family law

  • Knowledge and experience of a broad spectrum of financial planning instruments, trustee offering, private trust companies

  • A proven track record of meeting financial targets in a way that is sustainable and meets recognized conduct standards

  • An acute understanding of the opportunities that are provided to clients, particularly in the complex Ultra High Net Worth segment

  • A passion for a client-centric approach to business activities, and an ability to lead a team and work with others whose responsibilities are to offer appropriate services to clients

  • An ability to lead a team of executives, and to operate in a matrix structure through effective management and communication skills

  • A proven ability to be a credible representative of HSBC in external meetings and communication

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, JD, Certified Financial Planner CFP and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) professional designations preferred

  • FINRA S7 and S66 licensing preferred.
