We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow pre-defined scope, design, and plans to assist in implementing and supporting new technology initiatives.
- Support and maintain the existing SQL Server automation.
- Deliver robust solutions and provide excellent levels of service to the business and IT support needs.
- Design and code infrastructure automation for SQL Server customers.
- Apply DevOps principles to automate interfaces to SQL Server.
- Design and code reusable APIs to build, manage and provide self-service functions.
- Designing and testing automation, eliminating defects and errors with product development.
- Designing and integrating observability for all new and existing products including creating and maintaining solution documentation.
- Problem solving issues that arise in day to day running of automated processes and providing timely responses and solutions as required.
Qualifications – External
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering or related field.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in IT
- Extensive operational experience of SQL Server including installation, maintenance and performance.
- Good knowledge of SQL Server architecture including availability groups, mirroring and clustering.
- Experience and knowledge of Windows, Powershell, T-SQL, JSON and YAML.
- Strong knowledge and experience of automation using Ansible and Puppet.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Kerberos, encryption and virtualization i.e. VMware VMs, Docker and Kubernetes.
- API development experience with Python FASTAPI, associated tooling and architecture.
- End-to-end knowledge of build, package, automated testing, and deployment of CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using with Jira, GIT, Jenkins, Confluence, Splunk.
- Knowledge of Tanium and experience of promotion of packages to live.
- Good understanding of secrets management via Hashivault, Jenkins credentials and Ansible Vault.
- Experience of DevOps and Agile operating principles.
- Ability to navigate security and risk expectations in a regulated banking environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams/regions/cultures, sharing and building collective knowledge.
- Troubleshooting and bug fixing.
- Self-Starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent documentation skills.
